: Plan B for 66 Brakes

Thanks for the info on brake upgrades for my 66.

I think my plan is to simply install a dual master cylinder as listed for a 67 Chevelle with four wheel manual drum brakes.

This will fix my main concern, the single master cylinder.

The disc upgrade will wait awhile.

Is this practical? Advance lists a dual master for this application, it appears. I am guessing I would not need a proportioning valve, and I hope it will fit the 66 mounting bolts and pedal rod. And fab some new lines.

I know this is not the preferred method, and I will have to change m/c's later with the discs.

Will this work?

I swapped out my single one in the '64 with a dual one from a 68(new), and have had no problems. Stops a bit better, but they are still drum brakes. I dont think you'd have a problem running a disc/drum master with all drums. You'll just need to get the correct prop valve.

I think its a good upgrade in the meantime while waiting for discs.

Thanks.

Do I need a proportioning valve for all drum?

Yes.
