Thought I would ask this here and see what you guys think. Are there any problems running a front engine plate on the street, minus the vibration? Why would I want to? Thinking about using one in an S10 V8 conversion, it should give me a lot more room for the exhaust, and it's easier to put the motor exactly where I want it. I know you need to use a rubber tranny mount or risk the tranny cracking.

Thanks,
Steve

If you run a front plate, your going to want to run a mid plate also. If you can fit those and any accessory's ( alt, ps. etc. ) then not a problem

Accesories shouldn't be a problem, just 1/4" further. I really don't want to run a mid plate. Something else I was thinking, instead of a full front plate, just make some front engine mounts similar to the ones found on older chevys.

The " older chevy's " ( also discussed in another post ) have the rear mount on the bellhousing.

I don't think you will need a midplate b/c the tranny mount will trangle it fine.

I would mount the plate at the body/frame with some sort of rubber to cushion it since I figure you aren't talking about a COMPLETE rigid race vehicle.. As also the tranny.. Maybe use full poly instead of rubber??

BLK64SS - I have a 66 1/2ton that uses the rear bellhousing mounts.

pdq67 - I think I will use some poly mounts on the front, there is a bunch of different unuversal styles I have seen, I am sure I could get something to work. For the tranny mount I think I will stick with rubber. The only problem I am aware of for an engine plate is cracking the the tailhousing due too much body/frame flex and not enough engine movement.

Thanks guys.
