First I am exhausted, just got home. I will fill in details tomorrow..

Fuel Pressure Rock Solid at 6.5 psi for the entire Pass with the 140 pump....

BUT

NO DIFFERENCE IN ET or MPH In fact, it was just EXACTLY the SAME...

You just simplified my life, Tom. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I start assembling the '70 this weekend. I'm gonna use the Carter only.
It ran fine on the dyno...

Guess their isnt a real power advantage to the electric then since everything was the same. I.e. manual pumps that leach hp from the cam take about the same amount as the electric.

I agree about the lack of power difference. As the dragstrip is the ultimate proving ground, tiny variations can, and will, always provide very minor differences in ET and mph, the list is too long to mention. The important thing to note is that my car performed exactly the same as it did with the Carter.

It was consistent Last night with differences in ET of .007 and .3 mph between runs with a 1/2 hour or less between them and no significant weather change. The weather started out at 85 and 70% humidity and ended up at 60 with 98% humidity by the end of the night. Barometric pressure was slowly rising through the night.

Pass 1 ....10.88 at 123.6

As I needed to slow the car down to meet the 11.000 ET cutoff...I did this by adding springs to the advance weights in my HEI distributor to slow up the advance curve...60 ft dropped from 1.538 to 1.599....Passes 2 and 3 were 11.039 and 11.032 with mph 123.44 and 123.25. after a few rounds of getting on the brakes, my opponent red lighted so I stayed in it and ran a 10.954, next round I was on the brakes again as I knew I would be and based on the 1000' ET would have been a 10.961. Unfortunately TOO much brake caused me to give up .0068 of the stripe and I was on my way home wasting a .007 light.. and a bye in the next round :(

For Next week I am adding 100+ pounds to the trunk to make sure I can stay above 11.000.

why not just shift earlier to slow it down.

BTW, glad you fixed the problem! i bet you are too :D

It sure does suck when you're running too fast. ;)
I'd make Chris ride in the trunk...

I have the comp 140 pump, thinking about running a carter mech for street duty, save the Mallory for a little nitrous action..........hummmmm, more things to ponder........

Yes, shifting early is a viable alternative.
The trouble with shifting early with my ride is that by the time I am at the 60 ft mark I am shifting so my 60 foots would remain on par with a 10.80 pass and with my Torque band so flat shifting at 5000 or lower with a 4400 converter with a quickly accelerating car is not really practical...most important though I do not want to get out of sync since I have been shifting my combos at that mark for at least 5 years now and over 500 passes, you really get a feel and ear for it, similar converters and 3.55's for 4 years and now 3.42 gears for year 2. Also, When I race on special events and a regular Sunday I will simply switch the weights in the distributor and leave the weight out of the trunk.

Another advantage is the extra weight in the trunk and the soft timing curve will only help traction consistency.

Thanks for the words about finding the problem, now I have to pull the cam and see what the fuel pump lobe looks like...but there is no rush for that.
