: Pertronix Second Strike: anyone have any experience with it?

Second Strike is Pertronix's version of an MSD for lack of a better definition. I like Pertronix products and I plan to put something like MSD on the wagon but Second Strike with Pertronix ignition would allow me to retain a stock look (as long as I hide the box) and compatibility would be a given. They also have a rev limiter available along with the Second Strike.

Does anyone have any impressions of Pertronix's version? I don't know how they compare in price (yet).

You can read a little more about it here:

I just say that today too. Curious about it, and how it compares to MSD and others.

That does look interesting, I may have to get one to hook up to my Ignitor II. I wonder what they cost? Hopefully, someone here will chime in with their experience with this.

Are these things that new that no one here has one yet? If I go with the Second Strike I think I'll also go for the rev limiter. I like the fact that it allows a rev limit to be dialed in instead of having to install different chips for different limits.

Back to the top for one more try. Surely someone here has tried this unit.

Thanks.

If you are looking for a stock look I'd recomend having Dave, www.davessmallbodyheis.com (http://www.davessmallbodyheis.com) build you a trigger for $135 that used a stock cap w/dwell window and tie it to an msd box... He did my HEI and the quality and performence is not to be questioned.

He did my HEI and the quality and performence is not to be questioned. That, ultimately, is my question: how does the Pertronix Second Strike compare to MSD? It sounds to me like Second Strike has a bit newer technology and additional features (perhaps for the same or a better price, I haven't found out yet). Using Dave's service or installing a Pertronix accomplishes about the same thing except that Dave can set the curve up for me ahead of time. So to answer your statement, why not use a Dave distributor and the Pertronix Second Strike instead of MSD?

Perhaps no one has tried Second Strike yet, maybe I'll be the first.
