: What Would it Sound Like?

Well I'm narrowing down the remaining engine parts with my engine builder.

He has suggested a custom grind hyd. roller. Specs not fully decided, but something like "custom 242/.246 - 621/.615 hyd roller 114-117 LSA, 109 ICL".

Unfortunately that means nothing to me, just don't get all that numerical "gobbl-di-gook". Makes my head hurt.

He says it's make a lot of power for my 99.5% street use and still meet my hopes of having a semi-radical/very lopey idle.

I am hoping that someone in here could point me to a vid of a similar 500" BB I could listen to. I need to satisfy my ears before just saying "Do it".

Thanks in Advance for your help!

i think it would be not very radical or lopey in a 500+cube engine :(

It would sound meaner with a 110 lobe center.

I am really liking this kind of idle quality (468 BBC with Comp Magnum 286)

YouTube - 1969 Camaro Idle

And I like this ZL1 Camaro idle

And this one with a VooDoo solid roller

For the heck of it, I did a CamQuest run with the engine specs, etc. it came up with a XR294HR, XR292HR, XR288HR, and XR282HR. Curious why it didn't recommend any Thumper versions.

While I'm not picking out a cam yet, soon but not yet, the simulation dyno showed the 294 and 282 with the most HP and TQ, difference being peak HP at 6000 or 5800. Basically all i the 590-620HP/580-610 TQ.

Seems the 282 seems to have the best overall RPM (5800 vs 6000) HP/TQ combo, but as I am not racing (all street), any thoughts on if these are these the types of cams that would deliver a nasty(er) sounding idle yet still be reasonably drivable? (don't worry about vacuum, hydroboost)

510 BB, 10.5:1, AFR 315's or Brodix BBO's, dual quad Air Gap, 2 1/8 headers, 5 speed (3.33 1st, 3:31 final)

I remember there be a post of exhaust sounds. I'll check them for a similar set up, but if you can point me to one I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks in Advance!
