I'm trying to help my dad with his '68 el Camino he just bought. 327/qjet. Has a new HEI, coil, and plug wires. Qjet was suppose to have just been rebuilt. Here's the problem. The car starts and idles just fine (idles a little fast), but the throttle response is not very good. Put it in gear, and if you give it anything more than just a slight bit of accelerator if falls flat on it face. It won't recover unless you let completely let off and feather the throttle until you get up to speed at which point it seems to run fine. Anybody have suggestions, I know a little about Holley's but nothing about Qjets. TIA

Does it have a solid squirt from the accelerator pump into each of the primaries? First guess is that the accelerator pump is malfunctioning.

Make sure the rebuilder got all and the correct parts in the acc. pump. Take a look and see if the acc. linkage is hooked up.

This guy has also got some great links on troubleshooting Q'Jet's. Biggest thing is to make sure you understand how each of the idle & acceleration circuits work ... and how to check them out.
