i have a 68 chevelle ss and it has the factory 4 piston calipers. the calipers need rebuilt and i went to car shop in orange ca. and they have calipers for 165.00 per caliper. this is cheaper then rebuild of the old calipers i think. now the calipers i bought they say are for 68 camaro and chevelle. now the part number is not the same but they do fit. i have not put any brake fluid in at this time because i want to make sure they will work. what do you think

If you want to have yours rebuilt, I recommend White Post Restorations in Virginia. I had them do the calipers for my mom's '67 Jaguar. They were $80 a piece at the time I had them done.

keep the originals and have them rebuilt. They are date coded. At the very least if you do use some other rebuilt calipers, by all means save the original ones. Once they're gone, they're gone. don't let them go.

I could be wrong but i thought camaro calipers were smaller that the chevelle calipers. Maybe that's only the single piston ones.? My buddy has camaro calipers on his 55 Chevy and they are smaller than the ones on my 72 Chevelle.

I agree 100%. Once rebuilt with the stainless steel sleeves they will last forever.

Dino sounds like that 55 may have the G body/S10 calipers. Chevelle and Camaro are the same size.
