Whats the deal with seat belts? why does a decent pair of seatbelts have to cost 3-4 hundred dollars. Seems a little pricey to me.

I put together a kit from this company http://gotbelts.com/style.html for my GTO which included two shoulder belts for the front and three lap belts for the rear, all with black webbing and chrome lever latches for $210.60 plus $4.95 shipping. If you go this route, be sure to get shoulder extensions for the front or the shoulder belts will rest on your neck.

I think he is refering to original style.I also found alternate choises but none that seemed "right".in the end I found nice used set and dyed them to the right color.found the trick to the dye was hot hot water.while the package said to use washer I had an old turkey deep frier and used that.kept it just below a boil for about 1 hour.belts turned out great

Unfortunately, it's the going rate for originals. If you can find a set that doesn't have to be restored for that money your doing good. If you have to spend that, then go to Snake Oil now your in for 1400.

I had been watching ebay, etc. for a while and was quite dismayed at the prices I was seeing, too. Then in late August I stumbled across a complete set out of a '69 (for my '68) on the local craigslist for $150. They were beautiful! Probably the best buy I've made for my '68 project. Deals are still out there.
If you think A-body seatbelts are bad- check out the Corvette belts. $375 for repros (remember, this is for 2 bucket seats) and nice originals are going into the $4-500 range.

tell me about it. when i recieved my 66 the belts were in the trunk all dirty and looking like hell so in the garbage they went. now that i am tackling the interior i have no belts and keep losing the bids on ebay. should have kept the belts and cleaned them and dyed them. so i just purchased a cheap set from opgi. $36 for the pair:thumbsup:

You ain't kidding.Year One wants $45 just for the bolt that bolts them to the floor. And a complete set of aftermarket ones can cost over $400. I just cleaned mine today. Does anyone know of a cloth conditioner like an ArmorAll. I want these to last and stay nice.

what do you use to dye your seatbelts?????

I didn't dye them i uesd an Oxi spray Cleaner and one of those kitchen sponges with the scuff pad on one side. Some hot water and i scrubed them a couple of times an rinsed them good. Now i'm looking for a cloth conditioner to make them nice and soft. They were pretty funky and moldy when i started.
