HI. I recently replaced the rear shocks and springs on my 72 chevelle,i put on oem springs and a set of air shocks, i dont like the result at all.its way to bouncy for irish roads and dangerous. i put in a new set of KYB shocks on the front, happy with them.i I am putting on new tyres and rims 235/60/15 on 7 inch rims on the front and 275/60/15 on 8 inch rims on the back. i am thinking of lowering the springs all rounds and different shocks on the rear, the spring sets i am looking at are EIBACH LOWERING SPRING SET,HOTCHKIS, EDELBROCK, AND BMR FABRICATION, has anybody out there any info on these sets, also will this tighten up the ride and make it harder on the road. any info greatly appreciated.

That's one nice 72 dude, I have QA1 12 way adjustables on my 72 Elky now and they are for sale for $75. and they work fine, just not with over 700 hp now!!!! I am backhalfing my elky so these gotta go. Sorry, I have no info on the springs, but I can tell you the bouncy effect your getting is the airshocks, they tend to be bouncy but will hold up weight well. I think your springs are ok, but the shocks just cause too much bounce imo.
Hope this helps.

I have Hotchkis 1" lowering springs with Bilstein shocks all around. They are very nice - but the springs are stiffer than stock, you will notice it more on rough roads. Definitely not "bouncy", but as said above the shocks could be playing a big part of that.

On curves, etc the car handles great.

I second everything said here as my setup is the same. Just a bit choppy on uneven pavement but sooooo.....much better than stock.

thanks men , the general feeling here and over in the usa is that the shocks are my problem, as we used to say in the garage where i worked "remove them and send them into the great dark beyond" in other words scrap them.:D:thumbsup: ,

I have the Hotchkis 1" springs all around with KYB GR2's now front and rear, front 1" sway bar, no sway bar rear, the ride is excellent. I also first tried the hotchkis/KYB front and stock springs/air shocks rear and the ride is just as you described, bouncy, hard, rough, and crappy. You'll be happy with Hotchkis all around/KYB GR2's if you go that route. NOTE: if you have low hanging headers you might bottom out of speed bumps!!!
