: Currie rear end

I put a Currie 9+ rear in my 69 Chevelle. Before I pulled the engine and the old tranny, I reconnected the driveshaft and it I could now see 3-4 inches of the polished yoke sticking out of the tranny (driveshaft is too short). 1. Should I Dink around with trying a tranny with a longer tailshaft or install a standard TH400 and then have custom driveshaft made?
2. Do they sell TH400s with a tail that is 4 inches longer than a std length TH400, and if so who sells them?
I just rebuilt the engine myself and I am so ready to get the car running, and this is the last hurdle, so any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Brawley

it will be easier to get the correct length driveshaft and install it :)

Ford used 2 different length yokes on the 9 inch. All of the after market yokes are the short one. This is what was used in the trucks. You could find a long car yoke and install it, which would give you about an inch and a half. The best thing to do would be to get a drive shaft made to the correct length. You could probably use a more heavy duty shaft anyway.

Try this place, in your state and good people. I use them and I live in Maryland.

Thanks for all the great information. As per your recommendations, I will install a stock TH400, and then go to the driveshaft guys in San Antonio. Again, thanks so much! Brawley
