I'm doing the final wetsanding (400 grit for non metallic base) of epoxy primer in preparation for BC/CC paint. I'm finding it impossible to avoid having small slivers of bare metal come though along some edges, emblem holes, etc. Is this going to be a problem when applying the base coat? If I touch them up the area has a slight texture, then when I smooth it down, the metal shows through again. I know I can apply a coat of sealer but then there's a texture again and I'm afraid the base will tend to run more easily without the sanding "tooth" to grab onto.

I see your green light on, if you are actually still waiting for an answer, I'm not sure.
As far as your question I know I can't give an accurate answer, but I did find this, its something to read if your waiting, it might help, I didn't read all the way through it, but here it is.

Thanks Rob. I was hoping to get some more opinions so I'll try again with a different title to hopefully get some more painters' thoughts.

If you are still burning through all coats of primer and hitting bare metal, that means that is a high spot.
When you go to recoat with primer, dont sand it alot, just enough to get it smooth.

Von...I'd also finish sand with a less aggressive grit, especially if it's a base/clear top coat. You might see sanding scratches thru it. I always finish by wet sanding with 800 on a small 4" rubber block. That might also help with sand thru.
