Cool.
I've got a buddy who's son is getting married this Saturday and honeymooning all next week in Vegas.
I'm sure the newlyweds will be looking for something to do. ;) The whole family is into cars...I'll pass this along.

We'll be going. We have several cars consigned which means it will be more work than fun for us...until Saturday night that is. Our last car runs mid-afternoon on Saturday and when that baby rolls off the block we will be ready to blow off some steam...the phrase "Party Like A Rock Star" comes to mind! :D

I think this new venue in Vegas has all the ingredients to be waaay more entertaining than Scottsdale and especially Palm Beach. Vegas just has a way of bringing out the happy, fun, party-mentality in everyone! Also, I see they have the Drift Track set up for this event. If you're going and you haven't watched competition drifting before...don't miss it, it's awesome!

Hey Jacquie, I hope you do well out there, it seems like the perfect venue. I had contemplated taking my car out there as well until BJ told me it wasn't worth a Saturday afternoon lot #. So needless to say, I'm staying put. I still might grab a ticket last minute just to go see the auction but I'm still on the fence. I think it's going to be a very good show.

Thanks, Mike! And I hear ya...Sat afternoon is TOUGH! I honestly thought we had 3 that deserved Saturday, but according to BJ I guess only 1 was worthy.

Jump down off that fence and get on out there! It will be a ton of fun and the best car show ever. It just ain't the same on TV!! :noway:

Fly in on Thursday late night. Spend Friday admiring the B-J cars. Saturday will be spent preparing for the Jimmy Buffett concert at the MGM that night. :) Sunday will be spent recovering from the Jimmy Buffett concert. :D Fly home Monday.

Oh yeah....we might find time to gamble a little while we're there.

Jacquie...good luck at BJ! I have media credentials to any/all of the Barrett-Jackson auctions...but I am not going to be able to make it to LV this time around:noway:

I have credentials for SEMA...so I am trying to arrange to get there mid week for that.

I wil definitely be at BJ in Scottsdale (since it's only a few miles away). I will also be at Russo and Steele as well.

You have a wonderful group of cars going to auction...and I know that you will do well.

I wish I could be there to meet up with you and your husband...but maybe you'll see me in Scottsdale?

Since it'll be on TV...I WILL be watching for you. Remember to give the 'secret sign' when you are on TV!:hurray:

Here's the coverage on Speed!

Too bad you won't be in Vegas, I thought for sure you would be there to watch "your" car cross the block ;). We won't be at SEMA because it is so close to BJ and we can't afford to be gone from home that long. We have SEMA credentials too, so if you've got friends going with you or someone who can use them let me know and I'll send them to ya.

I guess we'll meet up in Scottsdale...Cool!
And if Mike doesn't take you up on that offer for a Media Pass...1)He needs his head examined 2) I'll take it!!! I've got a camera! I can follow you around taking pictures of you taking pictures...or whatever! :hurray:

It is going to be a really interesting sale to watch - from my TV...:( I'd love to go and have been seriously thinking of trip to LV but that weekend I have "Free" Chiefs tickets and I might as well go watch them lose... :(

I wonder how much the economy will play into the sales of classic cars... I guess this will be one of the venues to help determine your classic 401K value...

He's a Cook too??! :D You betcha, Bruce...sounds great! We'll bring the beer! :beers: (You cleared this with Lynn, right? She might have something to say about you inviting all your Rowdy Friends over without her prior approval! ;))

Heck yeah I want to be a Media Person. I pay attention. I see you Media guys running willy-nilly in and out of all the private no-access areas that us regular ol' peon bidders can't get into. I'm just wanting that media pass to follow you around so I can rub elbows with the rich and famous like you! :D

Thanks Rick...it was great to have your family at our house! You are welcome at any time!

Jacquie...no need to clear it through Lynn...she's used to this type of stuff by now.:D

The media thing is cool...especially when they have the celebrites "staged" in the media area...proir to them getting swarmed by the public. They also have great food and drinks...for free...and free wireless internet...and free thumb drives as well. BJ knows how to treat people right! I just have a blast:hurray:

I think BJ must be very worried about the effect that the current economy will have on its LV auction. Consignors must be worried because BJ is a "no reserve" auction. What happens if consignors pull their cars before the auction? Do they just lose their listing fee?

On a related note, I was approved for a loan from J J Best at last summer's Hot August Nites Silver Auction in Reno. Did not buy a car though. Yesterday, I got an unsolicited letter from J J Best offering to make a loan. What does that say about the "alleged" credit crunch?

When you consign a car to BJ they give you an estimated value of what they think it will bring. Then the car is not officially accepted until you send them the title along with a signed Power of Attorney, so just simply not showing up with your car is not a feasible option. If, however, you do decide to back out for whatever reason, you are not only out the consignment fee, which is anywhere between 700-1500 depending on time/day slot, but you must also pay the 8% seller's and 10% buyers fees on the amount they estimated your car to bring in order to get your title back. In other words, if you have a 100k Saturday prime time car and you don't show up, it will cost you $19,500. The cars will all show up.

The JJBest offer you received is nice to hear about...especially if you're a consigner! :D

Good luck to you all that are selling at BJ Vegas! I know a guy that has sold a few cars at Palm Beach. I was under the impression that you don't get a day/time slot for your car until AFTER they have all the paperwork and title.
Sure seems like the day/time slot plays alot into what price the car brings.
Kind of at BJ's mercy, huh?

No, they tell you your Lot number before you commit. And you are right...Day/Time makes a HUGE difference on what the car will bring!
