My 9" has a trac lock (?) posi I was launching at 5k and went boom on the line. Pushed back to the pits the grinding noise comes from the rear end and there is no forwar motion in gear. so is there a better posi for 31 spline axels? Best pass for the day was 11.55 @ 116.5 and 60' was 1.62

Detroit locker

Dang man that sucks. I run a detroit locker unit in mine. I dont even notice it on the street. Doesnt make any clicking banging like some people whine about.

I can honestly say i have heard mine click one time.:yes:

Its a very normal driving car, the only thing it does a little different is if you try to accell when your taking a corner( I typically dont do this anyways due to loss of traction=crash:D) it will try to push the car straight. So just lay out of the throttle through a turn and its fine.

No complaints here.:noway:

my bet is a broken ring & pinion. I have seen trac loks hold up under severe track duty of over 600 rear wheel hp. Do you have a factory one or a aftermarket?

Arron I bought it directly from Moser no modifications that I know of. After we pushed the car around I would expect the R/P to at least catch a couple of teeth and move with allot of noise

make sure you post up some pictures when you get it apart. Then get Darryl to hook you up :)

That's what happened when my spiders gears broke. I'm going with spider gears, stockers should break before aftermarket axles do.

Spider gears only turn when the vehicle is turning if they bound up(like a spool) the vehicle would still move fwd or backward.

Mine didn't do anything, I thought mine was R & P. Once the spider gears blow apart, there is nothing to transfer power from the carrier to the axles accept the clutches with enough spring pressure. There isn't enough spring pressure, even with 800 lb springs to get the vehicle to move. Of course I had a few broken springs too.

I was thinking along the lines of a pool, R/P, axel, spiders. Which ever one wins split the pool to the winning catagory by 1/3 of the entrants and myself as the organizer would keep 2/3rds and buy a new part.l:):thumbsup:
