I think I have been monopolizing the wheel and tire forum lately with techy questions to help me decide on a new set up for my car. As you can seen in the signature link, I had Rallye's and RWL tires. But I didn't like the offsets or short front tires. I asked a bunch of questions, got great objective input from y'all, and made my choice. I am totally, 100% thrilled with the differences.

It was raining today so I couldn't take it out for a better picture, but you get the idea. Click the thumbnail and maximize the window to see the 225/70-15's on 7"x3.75bs wheels on the front and 275/60-15s on 8"x4.5"bs wheels on the back. I think the proportions look great. I was looking at the polls, which show that raised white letters, Radial T/As, and Rallye wheels are most popular. Nothing like going along with the crowd :)

Anyhoooo.... Thanks once again to everyone who helped me with my dumb questions on this new topic, as you did with TKOs, carbs, control arms, clutches, scattershields, insurance, and the list goes on. I do sincerely appreciate the time you take to type up thoughtful, informed responses.

anychevy, yeah, that's a full height lift. We justified it thinking that we could park another car under it, which we do. It's a lot of fun though, I always raise the car even if there's nothing under it. That way I can give it a good once-over (under?) to visually check everything after each drive.

A funny thing happened with the new wheels/tires which moved the centerline of the tire contact patch outwards .5". My camber changed from -1.5 to -.5, perfect! Extra leverage on the suspension collapsing it a tiny bit? This observation must intuitively make you think I am dumb, but that's using my digital angle gauge measuring with the car sitting on the lift, which is perfectly level on all 4 corners.

Why is the front end so much higher than the rear?

Level is good, lower is better, but nosebleed stances really look funny. I bet you could cut a coil and get it looking better.

I know stance is a personal thing, so maybe "better" is only my opinion. If you check the pics of my wagon, you'll find it hunkered down as low as I can get it without losing functionality. If you dig the 4x4 look, more power to ya!

The nose is still so high because the suspension is still "loaded" from jacking a wheel off the ground and lowering it without the car moving forward and backward to let the bound-up geometry relax. It was raining so I couldn't back off the lift. Also, you're getting that single point perspective illusion from a close up, like the pictures of buildings in a 7th grade art class, notice the floor looks lower at the front of the car than in the back. :)

The car actually measures dead level (within 1/8") from the underside of the rocker to the ground, measured at the extremes by the wheels. That being said, though, I plan to lower it some day. I just haven't started my posts asking questions on advice and procedures to clip the front springs. The rear end is artificially raised a bit with rubber spacers in the springs, those will be easy.

Got it- I'm looking forward to seeing it a bit lower!
