I have the Coleman one that I got for Christmas. Jumper cables work better IMO. The air compressor on board is also way too slow for my liking. The unit is on my list of items to use for target practice :D

ok ill avoid that one.Jumper cables work great, just not on a boat thats in the middle of a lake. also for my tractor that i keep in a shed with no power to it.

Watching this thread for recommendations, I bought one at Sears and it never would start a car from day one.
I should have returned it but I kept putting it off until it was too late. :o

I got mine from Pep Boys. Don't remember the brand, I'll go take a look.

It has light, compressor, AC converter. Does everything OK - nothing great. But they are handy when you need one!

I do but with 15 vehicles around here, one of them always seems to have a dead battery when I play musical cars.
Besides I like to be able to help other people out.

I, personally don't care about the compressor or power outlet myself but they might come in handy sometime.

I just picked one of those 'do-all' boxes at Sears about a month ago, was on sale at 50% off (that makes it worthwhile) & the bigger of the two that they carry. But those kind of appliances are not really meant to give you a 'jump' right away like a set of booster cables connected to another car battery that has an 'active' alternator connected to it. You may have to wait several minutes after connecting to a 'dead' battery for the booster to transfer over enough power for the 'installed' battery to kick over a starter. You could do the same thing with simply connecting up a small cable between the cigarette lighter sockets of two vehicles, waiting the appropriate time, then try to start the 'dead' car.

I have a no name unit I picked up at a traveling tool sale. works good to boast off a car the battery is weak on. the little compressor is a little compressor but has gotten me out of a jam with a low tire. I take it to all the car shows I travel to just incase I need it to get the big block going. fits nice in my trunk out next to the fender. Those little gell cell batteries are great. Hum thinking about it it may be time to replace the battery in that thing. its about 5 years old now.

I have A PowerMate one and it always worked well for me.no idea what the specs are ........however it finally died ..wont hold a charge, out looking for a new one and see the higher cranking amp ones dont have that crappy compressor so this time going to get one with a high cranking amp one and not worry about the extra gadgets
