: John shemenski/ prayers needed
ktrim Oct 3rd, 08, 7:54 PM I spoke to Johns Mom and Dad this evening, Over the past few months I have been vague in passing along news of his health out of respect for his familys privacy. I asked them if it would be ok to let you all know everything as they could use all the prayers and support we can muster. Over the past few months Johns condition has slowly gotten worse, The cancer has spread he now has several tumors. They have tried several treatments that all seem to have no effect or accelerate the growth. He has been growing weaker each day and is now confined to a wheel chair. He and his family with the support of the doctors have decided to stop the treatments for a few weeks and then re-evaluate the condition. During this time He and his family are going to take a trip Hawaii. John has always wanted to go to hawaii,They've decided now is the time. when they return, the doctors will evaluate the cancer and determine what,if any, treatment to try next.
Over the past year I have come to know John and his family very well, They are some of the most Loving and Caring people I have ever met. Please keep them in your prayers
Thank you all for ongoing and never ending support and frienship
Ken

Cameano Oct 18th, 08, 2:22 AM Quick update. I've been able to spend a couple of hours with John and his family. You won't find a stronger family than the Shemenskis anywhere. Very good people, with some unfortunate circumstances. They have been keeping John busy while keeping themselves occupied too, which is good. I went down to Waikiki tonight after work with my Firebird and took John and his dad for a cruise. We made it out along the beach before sunset, lots of nice views down there. ;) We cruised up to Diamond Head, then back down and did a couple of laps around the main streets in Waikiki before heading back to the hotel. John had a grin on his face you couldn't wipe off, which was great. He said afterwards that it's been the high point of his trip so far. Tomorrow, my wife and I are taking the family to dinner on a dinner cruise. Monday, I'm going to go down there and hang out with John and his dad again while the women get a ride on the submarine tour. I'm still working on getting John's wife and sisters on a parasail tour for a decent discount. I know a few of the parasail operators, have worked on most of their boats, so it shouldn't be hard. ;)
Ken, the family can't express enough their appreciation for the hard work yourself and John Jacobs (?) have done to help John finish his car. John (dad) is amazed at the hard work all of the Team Chevelle members and others in the area have put forth. :hurray: You should be proud. I'm honored to be able to associate with good people like you.
Let's everyone keep John and his family in our prayers. They have a tough road ahead. :(
ktrim Oct 18th, 08, 11:48 AM Darren, Thank you for making their trip one to remember. They are truly one of the greatest families I have ever met. They always have a kind word and smile on their faces regardless of the situation, Truly amazes me. John and his family are truly an inspiration to all of us back home. I hope all the members here will get a chance to meet him one day. Thank you again for everything youve done.
