: I went to a dangerous place.........

I drove from my parents house in Florida back home to Tennessee. I went straight up I-75. Just outside of Atlanta, I came around a curve and was visually assaulted by the most beautiful but ominous sight.

.............The Summit Atlanta store!

I couldn't control my truck. It swirved off the highway all by itself and darted into the parking lot as if controlled by someone else. I was drawn inside by some invisable tractor beam that refused to let me go. And inside? A mecca of speed parts! Each one calling to me. I was unable to resist their syren calls. I walked out with two die cast cars, (a '69 Chevelle, and a 41 Willys street rod) I also wound up getting a new cam for one of my big blocks. Which one? I don't know!! I did get a new battery for my Nova, though. I don't know how I managed, but I spent $500 in there! What the?! Fellow TC'ers, This is my official warning! Stay away from this place. It's EVIL!! It will take you down the primrose path to extasy in speed.

.....................but heck, what a way to go!!!:hurray:

I also got all stuff to put the cam in. ie: cam lube, gaskets, lifters, etc. Heck, the battery was almost $200 for an Optima marine battery. (the Nova sits alot. it's better to have a deep cycle battery)

I'm glad I never travel through Sparks NV. I'd probably have a similar story.

Glad I am never in that section of Ga or on that streach of I-75.

My Son lives in nothern Atlanta off I - 285 and Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

It's enough for me just to get to his house. TOO MANY PEOPLE with not enough time for going somewhere.

It's better to shop at home then you don't :o embarrass yourself drooling,......................
you know how some guys get  truly unprofessional!!

Yes, very dangerous place!!! I know only too well.

You should have seen that carnage when I walked in with a 20% off everything except crate motors I got at the Atlanta Good Guys show.

It was like a war zone. I had to call the paramedics to resuscitate my wallet.

They should have warning signs posted at all entrances!

l:)

Those tractor beams, they can strike at any time!

Got nabbed by a few back when P.A.W. was worth a look.
Those were the days...

Go figure, I will down there next week. Good thing I have a one way truck rental that terminates down there!

I guess it isn't by mistake that they build those stores right next to the freeway :D....

After the first few times of being in there you develop the power to resist... Anymore, when I do a Summit run I just go in and get my parts and leave..It's the browsing that kills you :D.

We are lucky they aren't all over the place like Home Depots.

We would all be broke!

That would be COOL! Summit at Home Depot, JEGS at Lowes!

Oh honey...I'm going to Home Depot to pick up the things I need to hang the drapes...just like you asked me to do...Do you want to come along?

No you go ahead by yourself, dear.

OK, I might stop at Lowes if they don't have what I need.

Let's see now, screws, anchors, intake, gaskets...don't forget the gaskets, carb, plugs.........

HAHA! Man I live right here in McDonough, and work right down the street from Summit! I have gone there on my lunch many times!
It is cool to stop in and check out the weekly car showcase! There was a fellow TCer who had his car on display.... a clean, white 70 Malibu with a 540 I think.....

our Ohio brother speaks the truth here for sure. when i lived up in Geauga county a few years back i did a few nice saturday morning drives to the summit, first at the original location in Akron then to the newer one in Talmadge (sp?) back when i was building my 406 i was such a loyal customer they were practically greeting me by throwing flowers in my path as i walked up to the door. but like the poster says, the key is to go in knowing what you want, walk directly to that item, preferably with side shields on your eyes, then walk directly to the register, then leave immediately. in my case they eventually had to put in alarms that said "step away from the manifolds!"..."step away from the headers!"...etc. LOL
