I have a place out in Gold Bar that is too far away for TV antenna and I have thought about doing with a dish.
Here's the deal....
I am looking at wither Direct TV or Dish Network but every time I go to their web sites I get overwhelmed by all the bs. I just want a basic system as I will only be up there one weekend a month or so and can't justify spending a ton on something I hardly use.
So school me on both systems and what I can get into cheaply.

BTW, I have beem asked why not switch everything at home to dish too. I can't to stop using Comcast at home mainly because I am happy with it and everything I have is Comcast (phone, internet and tv).

In my experience Dirct TV is better than Dish Network in many ways, the most important being coustomer service. The few problems I have had DTV has been great, wish it was cheaper but we watch a lot of TV. If your good with computer stuff, google Free to air or fta and look into getting it free. It's not too big of a hassle but can be a setup and programming pain.

We had Dish Network in our house for about a year or so. Would go in and out of service without warning for days at a time some times. Other times would work flawlessly. Customer service sucked. Would call, and all you'd get would be an automated message saying, "We're sorry, but we seem to be having technical difficulties in your area. Please be patient while we solve the problem." Get the same thing whenever the Comcast internet goes down, but that's gotten a lot better now.

Oh yeah, once we went back to Comcast for cable, Dish Network sent us a bill for un-retrieved receiver boxes that they never even told us they wanted back. Once we called them, they sent boxes out and we shipped them back to them at their expense. Best part of the customer service we had was getting rid of them lol That was until they called us a few weeks later saying they hadn't gotten the boxes back yet and threatened to send us to collections! We got it all squared away after a couple months of hassle, so yeah, not worth it! Hit up Direct TV

Jim, why do you need a Dish, don't you have enough XXX rated movies in your personel collection that even if you watched two movies a day you wouldn't revisit the same movie for three months.

 We've had DirecTV for over ten years.
Why not install two dish antennas...one at home, one at the weekend house? Transport the receiver between the two. It doesn't need to plug into a phone line unless you use Pay-per-view.

You can still watch pay-per-view, you just have to phone it in instead of using the remote to order them.

So how do I get away from the high cost of having either Direct or Dish? If it isn't being used 90% of the time can I really justify this?
Options is what I am looking for, like can I pay as I use? So anytime it is sitting I do 't get charged but if I use it I get charged. I don't know, just thinking out loud.
As far as the xxx video, I starred in most of the ones Berg watched. Jimmy Holmes...

I looked into the Free to air and it has a lot of religious, shopping etc channels. I need some real advise from someone who has some experience in this an not xxx video. :p

Wasn't that the alter ego name of the Gay porn version of John Holmes?

Do ypu have a neighbor or relative with DTV? Have them subscribe another box for their "bedroom", it costs about $5 a month.
