Okay, I got all of my other issues resolved with my guages, etc. Problem is, after getting everything back together, now the tach doesn't work. I have two black (ground) wires coming from the tach, one into harness and the second to the cig. lighter. One red wire into the harness and one tan wire into the harness. Any idea where the tan wire goes? I would think the red is the power. Where does the tach get its rpm info form? I know, I am a wiring rookie. Picture of front of tach just for reference. Why would it quit, no fuse issue, all guages working properly.

The connector that has the two black, the pink (you called red) and the tan, are for the fuel gauge. Pink is power, tan is routed to the tank level resistor and the blacks are ground. The tach has a two wire connector, pink and brown. The pink is power the brown is the pulse signal from the coil. The pink wire is IGN power that is supplied to the fuel gauge, the oil pressure gauge, the temp gauge and the tach. The brown pulse wire is routed through the bulkhead into the engine harness and connects to the coil - terminal or TACH terminal on the GM HEI dist.

Okay, Elree that helps. I thought the four wire connector was for the tach as it was in the center of the guage. Do you know which of the two terminal connectors are for the tach? As I look at the guage from the back, I thought the battery/amp meter is on the right, oil pressure on the bottom, fuel on the top and temp on the right. Now knowing the fuel is in the center, is the tach on the top? Thank you...Jon
