: Ok not a chevelle but still a chevy...1958 Impala
65lkey Sep 30th, 08, 9:10 PM So my parents are buying a piece of property and it's time to sell the impala. My dad has owned this for almost 10 years. It is an original 283/powerglide car:sad:. He and I ripped that out in favor of a 350 .040" over. 71 camaro lt1 bottom end that is balanced to within 2.5 grams. It has 882 heads that have been p&p'd. It has a edelbrock dual quad setup on it and an hei ignition along with 1 5/8" headers. All backed up by a th350 and 3.55 gears in back. He has converted the stock style power steering pump to a newer style along with a newer gm alternator instead of the generator. The color is stock Rio red with matching interior. He has lowered the front and put air shocks in the rear for hauling people in the HUGE back seat.
I'm kind of tore that they want to get rid of it but he barely drives it (maybe 50 miles a year) I'm not sure on how much to ask. It does have a couple rust bubbles coming out but nothing too major. He has everything to put it back to stock. Motor, tranny, gears, wheels, steering wheel... here is a pic

sg5492 Sep 30th, 08, 10:16 PM Nice looking car. you might try the guys on http://www.trifive.com/forums/ there is a lot of good people on there. I know it is just 55-57 site, but there are some guys that have 58's on there also.
Chris R Sep 30th, 08, 10:53 PM I would think 25K easily.
1badss396 Sep 30th, 08, 10:55 PM Another one of my all time favorites  and also the 58 convertibles...

now that your going to sell it your really going to regret that. A 58 chevy with a factory v8? thats a cool car right there. If those were original numbers matching engine and trans......yea.... id put them back in. That will make the value shoot up bigtime. Seems like a solid car, you could sell it to someone looking to make it into a concours show car and make bank
huffhuff Oct 1st, 08, 10:13 AM 58s are getting hot right now. tri 5s have gotten very expensive making 58-60s attractive. at Tunica last month there were several 58-60s.

I don't think so. The fact that he has the original parts to put it back to a numbers car should be sufficent to a buyer. Might reduce the value some but I don't think a loss would be too great.
Not trying to be a jerk here but I always considered 58 to be the least desirable body style from 55-72, however I think your particular 58 is a good looking example. I think the body color is excellent and looks like all the chrome trim works on this particular ride.

Not being a jerk either, but your opinion is not setting the market. Condition being equal, do you honestly think a 72 Impala is worth more than a 58???

Your putting words in my mouth. I didn't say one word about value. Did I. I stated that 58 was the least desirable from 55-72. I was talking about styling. Considering your tone I think you are being a jerk.

Dude,
How can you infer tone without hearing my voice? I didn't put any words in bold or italics. Settle down.
You are stating your opinion about styling. I am simply stating the fact about values. Just because YOU don't happen to like the 58s, & think they are the least desirable of the lot, doesn't mean they are less valuable in the market place.
The poster posed the question, "What its Worth?", not "Do you like my Impala?". I happen to LOVE the 58s, but in reality something is only worth what someone else will pay for it.
Not trying to start an argument or a pissing match with you.

69396ss Oct 1st, 08, 5:18 PM I'll never forget as a kid, a guy down the Alley had a 58 Impala, buckets, console and 4 speed, (from what I don't know) Black with black interior, jacked up a little in the the front and a lot in the rear with Cragers. Dual rear attennas angled back at a 45 degree angle and running a Big Block.
Man what a car. I'll never forget it.
You can set a 58 up and make it look Boss.
jfkheat Oct 1st, 08, 7:15 PM I would buy a nice 58 before buying a tri 5. One reason I like them is because you don't see many around. There are tri 5s at almost every show or cruise-in you go to. Not so with the 58s. I would much rather have a car that is different.

1966_L78 Oct 3rd, 08, 5:13 PM I have been looking for a '58 Bel Air hardtop... pretty hard to find...
My dad had one he ordered; 348/315HP, 4.56 gears!... His buddies all say it was THE car to beat when it was new...
Dads gone, but mom wanted to find one (they met when he had that '58)...
