Enforcer505 Sep 30th, 08, 11:45 AM well i found this monster for sale in a small town and i bought it (stupid me lol) frame is shoot and unrestorable, but almost all the parts are there!! scary to see a car in this shape and parts are there and havent be picked through. any idea what its worth at all? has matching, engine, trans, rear. 318 needs a freshen up, looks like it could run if u fixed the wiring. dont no much other than that. the frame was dragging on the ground lol car is located in barrie, ON now :D
wiw? i no not much and only for parts. but i had to save what i could from her :)

TCSS1970 Sep 30th, 08, 2:21 PM My, my but aren't we feeling full of vigor. Cool car but it will take a ton of time and resources to bring that on back to life.
RAMBO Sep 30th, 08, 2:49 PM Obviously worth a lot more if parted out, than as a whole...
Start taking it apart peice by peice, clean em up- and put on e-bay with no reserve to see what it brings.
A buddy of mine is big into the mopars, and spends big too for anything he needs, and he's not the only one!
67kmq Sep 30th, 08, 7:38 PM looks like something my friends older brother would drag home, he'll cut the tree out of it to get it on the trailer if he thinks there's something worth money on/in it
Enforcer505 Sep 30th, 08, 7:47 PM yeah its only a parts car, i cant bring it back anyways, lol i see alot in parts though
mr 4 speed Sep 30th, 08, 8:16 PM whats that a 73 ?

speedyy Sep 30th, 08, 8:42 PM Find a transplant frame.... clean the stuff up and I think you might come very far to an awesome decent car :)
Enforcer505 Sep 30th, 08, 10:10 PM yeah i have been thinking that, finding a solid body and transplanting all the parts. but i dont no that means more money lol
bb1966chevelle Sep 30th, 08, 10:15 PM Thats a sweet car!
Invest in a welder, (if you dont already have one), and about 3500 lbs of metal and fix it!
prefectca Sep 30th, 08, 11:03 PM Don't feel bad. A friend restores cars and a customer brought him a 70 Challenger for 1/4 panel replacement. By the time he was finished (he showed the customer ALL the problems before he started) he had replaced the rear frame rails, trunk floor, inner and outer wheel houses, rear floorpan and then the 1/4 panels. The customer is bringing it back next year to go the rest of the way to the front bumper! This car was licensed and on the road and looked good at ten feet away.

Enforcer505 Oct 1st, 08, 1:18 AM well this cars frame is gone, floors gone and i mean i can see the frame in the drivers back seat. its a great parts car though tons of parts in it. i just wish i had the money to transplant it :S
pdvanocudadave Oct 1st, 08, 11:30 AM You may want to think it over before you part that car. That car is very restorable.I have seen much worse and I work on Cuda's that start in that shape all the time.If you look at the rear frame rails, they are not rusted all the way to the rear and can be sectioned with year one frame rails.Auto rust tech makes the cross member sections that hold the rear of the tortion bars and any other parts of the frame you may need. The trunk pan, floor pan and quarters are no big deal, they just take up alot of time to replace. You will be able to find all the parts you need to restore that car.I restore these cars and they sell for big money and that is how I pay for my Chevelle projects and cars. What is the vin number on the car.It has a twin scoop hood and that hood did not come on a 318 car.Is it a Barracuda or a Cuda? BH or BJ are Barracuda and BS is a Cuda. These are the first 2 letters of the vin.A 440 engine brings the selling price up even higher. These Cuda's have paid there way for me when I buy a Chevelle that is totally striped of all its parts and I have to buy everything to put it back together.I have spent $180.00 dollars in gas to buy a $35.00 part and a Cuda paid for it all.A Cuda has also helped me find 4 68 Chevelle 138 vin cars waiting for new owners.think about it
72 malibu Oct 1st, 08, 1:52 PM Cool find, but it looks really shot. The front end must be gone for the tire to sit like that. It is a '73-4, and they only came w/ a slant 6, 318 or 340/360. I don't think there was a 'Cuda available in these years. Just Barracuda.I like the look, but you would have to invest a ton of cash, get real familiar w/ mopars and really want to do it because that would never bring the coin of a '70-1 or what you put into it. I say part it out and get what you can. Before you do, check the vin just to make sure what you have.
RustBucket68 Oct 1st, 08, 2:45 PM If I'm not mistaken (usually 50-50 chance lol) the scoop hood came on all the 73-74 'Cudas even the 318 cars. Optional on the base model too.
BTW, does the speedo go to 150 or stop at 120? Just wondering.
The hood alone ought to be worth somethin... :)

Enforcer505 Oct 1st, 08, 3:45 PM hey guys, well lets put it this way, the roof is holding it together or it will fall in half. no frame from front to back, the pic might make it look better. the rocker on one side is dragging on the gound and to be honest suprised its staying together. i can see the leaf springs and are right in the drivers side rear seat, so yeah not to restorable.
pdvanocudadave Oct 1st, 08, 4:36 PM What are the first 7 letters and numbers of the vin?The shifter handle is 1970 and it looks like it has the small base mirror on the door that is also 1970.The dog dish hub caps also have me asking questions.Plymouth and Dodge used the 120 mph speedo in the Cuda and Barracuda.
oktunes Oct 1st, 08, 7:07 PM A ton of guys thought that abandoned Chevelle with the tree growing thru it was prime for restoration. This Cuda is 10 times the car that Chevelle was. Doubt the Chevelle will even move without breaking in half. Hope to see it salvaged and at leat parted out, but it may rest in peace right where it's at. At least the Cuda did come out in one piece.
Enforcer505 Oct 1st, 08, 8:03 PM UPDATE
well found an intact build sheet, parking tickets and the keys for it. also found some little rare parts, 3 stage wiper switch etc etc i find more everyday!
i got 41 emails for parts on another website, what have i done lol
The car is a '74 judging by the bumper guards. 1973s had them too, but the '74 guards are a little more like a brick while the '73s are pointy. Seat belts are retractable with inertia reels on the shoulder belts on the 74s.
Both Barracuda and 'Cuda were offered in '74. Both offered either 318 or hot 360 power. The 1974 production ended early, wrapping up in March of '74 to make way for added Plymouth Valiant production. As a resuly 74 Cudas and Challengers are rare. Only something like 398 'Cuda 360s with torqufites or 120 with pistol grip 4-speeds were made, and maybe 20 or 30-ish with 360 3-speed sticks.
The scooped hood was standard on the 'Cuda, along with h.d. suspension , power brakes and a blacked-out back panel. The scooped hood was also an option on the Barracuda (called the Performance Hood).
It's sad to see such an advanced state of rust, and yes, it is surprising that it wasn't raped for parts long ago.
