: Are these fusible links or splices?

These two photos are from the area around the left front headlamp, the horn relay and voltage regulator. Looking at two different wiring diagrams one say they are splices and one says fusible links. Anyone know for sure? If they are fusible links, are they replacable? As you can see the one going from 20ga. wire to 10 ga. is getting pretty worn and I need to either replace or bypass the link/splice. Any help is appreciated...Jon

I've always thought they were fusible links.

Yes, that is a fusable link. Do NOT bypass it. Get the schematic and find the value and you can get a replacement from any auto supply.

normal rule of thumb on fusible links is two sizes smaller then the wire on either side ..

if the wire leading in is a 12g then the fusible is 16g

P.S. solder to gather with butt crimps & cover with shrink wrap ....... Don't cut corners & just crimp them in place

note: your picture looks more like 10g to 14g :D

I believe the second picture is 10/14 ga. The first photo is 10/20 according to the wiring diagram and the red wire you can see only a bit of is 20ga.
