Working on my guages today and found a wire that was disconnected. It comes out of the lower side of the tach next to the lamp for the oil pressure guage. It is about ten inches long and has a plub in type connection that was not connected. See photo. Both ends are visible in the photo. Any idea where it goes? What is it's function? Thanks...Jon

I have no idea. But -
What year car? Guages or no gauges?
If I look at your picture, the connection and wire look IDENTICAL to the one that's right behind it, and it's plugged into something - what is it plugged into, and is this just the other end of that same wire?

That is a fiber optic cable, it's the ash tray light. There should be a plastic clip, very similar to the one on the cluster end of the cable, in the ashtray cover that the unattached end plugs into.

xtreme, Yes that is both ends of the same wire, just didn't know where the other end went. Now I know the other end goes to the ash tray. Thanks. Jon
