: How Much
Moonshine67 Sep 29th, 08, 3:08 PM I found a 70 chevelle at a local auction and i'm not sure what to offer. It has no eng/trans. Body looks good, frame looks good, interior is decent.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Brian

oldtimebaseballfan Sep 30th, 08, 11:16 AM Can you get pics of the interior, trunk, undercarriage and engine bay?
Are you looking at this as a malibu?
1badss396 Sep 30th, 08, 11:24 AM What Tim said we need more pictures.
ss1970chev454 Sep 30th, 08, 1:18 PM first and foremost: is there a title?
looks like it'll need a whole front clip and I'll bet the frame horns are bent.
huffhuff Sep 30th, 08, 2:45 PM title not a problem.
Moonshine67 Sep 30th, 08, 3:21 PM It was an insurance auct. and the car was listed as a theft recov. so it would have been a salvage title. It sold for 6500. 1500 more than i wanted to pay.(Oh well, one project at a time).
Here's the Vin if anyone cares - 136370R239926.
Thanks

oldtimebaseballfan Oct 1st, 08, 9:43 AM Based on the facts:
No engine
no trans,
front clip badly damaged,
many parts missing,
no documentation,
salvage title.
No pics of trunk and undercarriage.
It's only worth the parts...maybe a couple of grand.
Jim Mac Oct 1st, 08, 10:38 AM without a better picture, it looks like the bumper, splash pan and grille for sure, Notice the white turn indicators and SS emblems on the door panels? SS dash? Wonder if it was a SS? I wonder if the fenders and hood come out okay. jim
Moonshine67 Oct 1st, 08, 12:22 PM According to my guy on site, one of the quarters was replaced well enough (a little bumpy inside the door sill). All pans looked clean. Both front fenders were straight and both had mild rust on the bottom (easy fix). The hood was undamaged as well aside from a very small ding where the bondo popped out from a previous fix. He also found some misc ss trim pieces in the trunk.
Unortunately, I only learned of the car the day before the auction so I was unable to look at it in person. So with this limited info, and my limited knowledge of the 70 models, I just couldnt bring myself to pay for an "SS".
Ill stick to my 67.
Thanks for all the info, Ill apply it to the next "gem" I find
Brian
PS: Last year at the same auction, I missed a 70 Camaro "SS". It was an engine burn with a clean title. I think it sold for 4G.
