When I bought my Chevelle, it came with 2 front bucket original seats that need reupholstered.

I'm not going to use them, and have them posted for sale locally right now. What is something like this worth so I can be sure I'm asking in the right price range?

price depends on what the seats are. how about a photo?
are the seats complete with tracks. headrests? Condition of tracks headrest and seats?
Too many variables, you have not supplied enough information.

I agree,

Different years can be worth different amounts. Condition is important too (backs, sides, and if it has the tracks, are they "chevelle/A-body" tracks?

By posting a picture, maybe someone can identify what they came from, etc...

Typically, for seats needing recovering (but usable headrests and panels), $200-$400. I see many "asking" $500+ (still needing reupholstery), but they don't seem to move to well...

if you shop around, ive seen a set at a swap meet for $100 with tracks and new backs.
Cheapest I paid was $40 but they needed new cushions and upholstery.
Set in the elcamino cost $100 and is actually very usable'
the set I bought for my 68 actually turned out to be 66 chevelle seats. I paid $250 for a set of cores. Had them redone in black cloth, new sponge ect. I had a heck of a time selling them for $506. But I think it was because they werent upholstered original.
Like others said, seems $250 is a price that sells eventually. jim

I agree with Jim. Recoverable original bucket seat cores seem to sell reasonably fast for about 250-300. As a side note, I've gotten an education lately on the value of finished seats. I have recovered about 3 sets of bucket seats so far and it's been a real eye opener. I would sometimes see nice, finished, recovered completed bucket (A body) seats sell for 1000 plus dollars. I would roll my eyes and think about another chump that got the big weenie.

Here is the reality: Cheap set of cores--200, foams--200, seat covers--200, one replacement spring--100. We are at 700, or if I rounded high, make it 600. So far we have still not included plastic seat trim, chrome piping, head rest covers, chrome latches--all stuff needed to make the seat look nice. Still no labor and we are up to 800for a pair of seats. Throw in a little labor and maybe a seat track and you've got cool grand.

Those chumps were smarter than I thought. They bought bolt in seats ready to go for a grand and I worked my butt off for the same price.

Have you used the headrest covers? I bought mine from Ground up. They warned me that the covers fit like a sack over a bag of potatoes. I talked to my upholster guy, he said you have to pad them to make them fit decent. I just left the headrests off for now.
One thing I wouldnt try to do is to try and make more money by redoing them and selling them. Color wont be correct for the buyer, or wrong pattern. Jim

I have only used replacement headrest covers on an A body bench seat and they actually fit very well (purchased from NPD). So far I have been lucky enough to have good original headrests for my bucket seat projects.

Well I ended up selling them for $100, and I think it was a good deal for both parties involved.

Sorry I did not snap pictures of them before the sale. They did not have tracks, but they did have the head rests. They were going to need new foam and covered for sure as well.

Personally I don't think the headrest covers are worth the trouble. Best thing to do if headrests are in bad shape is to purchase new repos. They really are not that exspensive considering the cost of the whole project. They are allmost an exact match and wont be all dry rotted. Covers will drag down the look of an otherwise good job.
