For a sbc. How do these heads rate with the many choices out there?

Jerry,
I believe Mike Newby (Georgia69) ran those on his '69...a nice head! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks Bill. I am in the process of putting together a 400. I still have my vortecs but can't seem to make up my mind on on using them or going aftermarket. Maybe I should have sold you my vortec air gap also graemlins/waving.gif I have gone from vortecs, e-tecs, trickflow and so on and so on. I am worse than my wife out shopping. lol

I think they are decent heads, but are kind of an old design. Good if you are on a tight budget and able to do a little home porting.

IMO, I don't know exactly what you've got in mind for that 400 but if it's strictly street in a full dressed Chevelle, and having to choose between Sportsmans and Vortecs, I'd go with the Vortecs.

Yes it will be mostly street. I will probably stay with the vortecs but if I do decide to go aftermarket I think it will be the 200cc e-tecs so I can still use my intake

Thanks for the input

I have Sportsman II's. If I had it to do over again I'd choose something else. There are better heads. If you want cast iron, check out Iron Eagles or the Pro Toplines.
