: value of 65 chevelle ss clone
pnewt50 Sep 29th, 08, 9:55 AM good morning-have the opportunity to trade one of my Corvettes for a 65 chevelle ss clone and need help to determine an approx. value..chevelle has been done over-frame on has 468 bb with 5k miles on it.new headers exhaust, fuel cell, 200 shot of Nos plumbed but not functional. etc. new cowl hood installed. has custom gauge package in custom dash with interior from 03 monte carlo including console with floor shifter(350 auto) new tires, new air shocks, premium wheels. all trim is vg or renewable. originally a 327 car built in georgia..i know this is vague info but would appreciate your knowledge of these cars thanks very much paul. ive restored many cars in past 12 years and may take this car, work it to perfect condition and turn over to my son(Navy Lt about to muster out after 8 years)
66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Sep 29th, 08, 10:20 AM Yes, wayy too vague and no mention of what the trade is and it's condition...

pnewt50 Sep 29th, 08, 10:37 AM actually looking for an educated guess. the trade aspect is not something i have aproblem with. When i figure out a value for the chevelle, the owner will make up the difference in cash to me.the Corvette is a specialty car 436 stroker 600+hp 6 speed 2001.it sits in my garage and is losing value so i want to move it.The chevelle has been done over-is not anywhere near stock 500+hp 468 BB th350 4.10 with 200 shot of Nos but is a looker not a race car.my only question is--is a 65 a desireable car(i know not compared to 66-67 ss) and how difficult to sell if i choose to. will a 65 bring 20k+ thanks for your help paul
Dean Sep 29th, 08, 10:44 AM Supply and demand sets the price.
I couldn't even guess how much any race car might be worth but seems to me that most people would rather build their own which would lower the "demand" a bunch.
BTW, it can not be called a clone with those modifications, not even close.
A "look alike" maybe but not a clone.
66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Sep 29th, 08, 10:49 AM Again, Paul.. Think about it?? If you were me or anyone else.. and were reading the limited description you provided.. would you be able to make a guess?? Guess on what? It's wayyy to subjective
Tell us more about the car but more importantly, you need photos.. It would be a very poor guess for anyone to make at this point.
can 65's bring Good money?? well absolutely.. $20K, $30K, $50K and up.. all depends on condition, QUALITY, documents, etc.. but all in all, 65's are as you say.. Not in the same ballpark as 66 or 67's or 70's
I might be alone in my thinking here, but I say, you need photos to make guesses and even then.. it's subjective until you can see it in person. and what you feel is worth $20K .. I may feel is worth $12K Modified cars in general are not always bringing money, add to that a non-desirable model year.. and you aint moving forward in my opinion.
Photos my friend.. it's 2008.. post some photos :D
Bunz-T Sep 29th, 08, 11:17 AM I would think that for a 65 to bring $20K it would have to be a 138 car built to a high standard of correctness with a 327. The car you are describing is set up for very limited street use and makes desirabilty even less. I know of nothing harder to sell in this market is one like you are describing. A trade needs to be viewed in value much like having to sell it quickly.
Depending how much blue sky you can put in the Vette and the limited info we have on the car it would bother me to have $15K in real money.
pnewt50 Sep 29th, 08, 12:51 PM thanks everyone. my opinion was and continues to be that this car will be difficult to sell when I am ready as the market is so small for a quasi race car.I will probably sell the corvette outright and then look for a 66 or 7 138 car appreciaite the input and the super fast responses Paul
66 MYSTERY CHEVELLE Sep 29th, 08, 1:11 PM That is a Much Smarter plan.. Sell the Vette and then look for the right Chevelle.. it's a good time to buy a Chevelle if you have money to do so.
69396ss Sep 29th, 08, 1:20 PM Paul I'm looking for an excellant Mid Year Vette and am in Cincinnati.
I didn't see what years Corvettes you were interested in selling.
PM me if you have any vintage Vettes for sale.
Edit
Oops, 2001 Stroker, missed that, Sorry.
OLDED Sep 29th, 08, 2:51 PM My guess is that the 65 is a $9-10,000. car in today's market.
