I just picked up a new 750 Speed Demon and an electric choke kit to install. I'm having some issues if someone could help.

First of all, I can't orientate the choke spring to match what BG is explaining in the instructions. It's almost like its the wrong spring.

When I try a few different ideas how to hook this spring to the plates, which way should this fast idle screw have tension. I would assume it would want to push clockwise correct?

I've been studying this thing for a couple hours and it's probably a simple fix buy I'm getting fried.

Of course this is all after I opened the choke kit to find no instructions and one missing set screw, and while studying the choke linkage, noticing that one of my pump arms is bent and 2 of the accel. pump screws were loose. graemlins/angry.gif

Any help is appreciated.

You have it right, thats how mine looked when I put it on a while back. Its very difficult to adjust once everything is bolted on, but the real fun is cutting your air cleaner all up so it will clear the choke linkage

The hook in the diagram figure 8 is backwards. The way you have it layed out in your picture is how it gets installed. We apologize for the missing instructions, and set screw, if you'll give us your address we'd be happy to send you out replacements. As far as adjusting the fast idle speed screw using a small ignition wrench makes it pretty simple.

Don't BG sell some kind of spacer to clear the linkage?

Guys,

At this time we do not offer a spacer, but there are a few alternatives.

1) We offer 14” x 3”, 4”, & 5” drop base assemblies that will fit around the choke linkage without any modification, as do many other companies right now. P/N 786001, 786002, & 786003.

2) On most of the stamped steel air cleaners you can dimple the base with a ball peen hammer. This will bend it down so it will clear below the linkage.

3) If you have room to add one of the air cleaner spacers (plastic) you can heat it up with a pin torch, and mold it so it clears around the linkage.

Hopefully one of these will work for you.
