I finished my 66 in April of this year and have had it at 9 or 10 shows. We won trophies at all but 1. But today we won best of class 1965-1970.
Though I don't go to shows just for a trophy, winning something like this seems to make all the hard work and money seem somehow worth it. I always tell people that my car is my trophy. I love to drive it. My wife and I were just talking the other day on only hitting about 4 special shows next year. One of these will be an ACES Regional.
The only thing about today is that I wish my dad was still here to see my car finished. He saw it last fall when I had it hauled home and began working on it but never got to see it finished.
Oh well, I was pretty proud of the car today and just wanted to share.

My camera's in the shop but I'll borrow my daughter's tomorrow afternoon and take some pics of car and trophy. Actually my wife accepted the trophy so I'll have to include her in the pics. Besides she's more photogenic than me. Check back tomorrow evening and I'll have them posted.

Ok , I was supposed to take pics of my wife with the car and trophy from yesterday but I didn't get my camera back and my daughter's camera won't load on my computer. My camera had to be sent out to be fixed. When I get it back I'll take the pics and post them.

Also for those who misunderstood my original post, I'm not in this for trophies, although winning one is nice, I'm not like some people who go away mad if they don't win. I enjoy hangin with the people, bench racing, and showing each other the projects we're planning and currently workin on. I go to way more cruises than I do judged shows. Id just love to go to an ACES event to see all the other Chevelles. I do drive my car and love it. As a matter of fact all those rubber marks on the back road behind my house didnt come from a trailer queen.;) I enjoy all aspects of our hobby. Showing, racing, the garage work and everything else that comes with it. It was just a good feeling to win such a trophy with a car that was built and used to drive and have fun. THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!

As a deejay for street rods, muscle car shows, and cruise ins, i never cease to be amazed when some disgruntled car owner blurts out... i won"t be back to this show.. my car was better looking than his...my engine had way more chrome than his.. the judges are idiots...and so on and so on. Here in the south, i see fewer judged car shows and more money tree cash giveaways.. I've yet to see anyone complain about an envelope with money stuffed inside. With the gas situation the way it is,, most of these car owners really like a $20,$50, $100 bill given to them.. Do the the math..with entry fees,fuel, food..it adds up. Don't know about you guys, but a trophy with mayo and lettuce on rye still doesn't taste good, nor will it dissolve in a fuel tank......Remember this.. you built that chevelle for yourself....build it to please you...if someone else happens to like it , that's gravy too.:thumbsup:

I do just what you are planning these days.. I attend few shows, but the ones I do attend are usally Special Ones and if I Win something.. It Means something!
