I was told but am not sure if this is true ,, was A/C not a option on a LS6 Chevelle and is 6,000 RPM the correct red line on a LS6 Chevelle?

According to all GM literature, A/C was not available with either the LS6 or the L78. Apparently the A6 compressor was not tolerant to the high RPM the solid lifter engines could obtain. Redline on the LS6 tach should be 6500 rpm. The line turns yellow at 6000.

I have heard A/C would cause these solid lifter motors to run hot in traffic.This maybe another reason why Chevrolet did not make it an option.
