Hi all, would appreciate your input if you have same or similar setup. The following wheels and tire sizes are what I would like to run on my 66 if possible:

215 55r17 on 17x7 rim in front with 4" backspace.
255 55r17 on 17x8 rim in back with 4 1/2" backspace.

Car is appox 2" lowered all around (floor jack 1/4inch from fitting under front cross member). My temporary front rims are 15x7 regular gm steel wheels with 205 70r15 right now rub on outside top of inner fender bolts when turning sharp right now. I did convert front end to 70s spindle/disks. Rear end is standard gm 12 bolt.

Will this work? Thanks

Jeff

Jeff,
I run your rear combo on the front of my car - so I think you'll be fine.

I'm running a 17x9 on the back of mine with 5.5 bs i think the 4.5 bs would look better because it gives it a deeper look making it appear wider. I have a 255-50-17 and have 1 1/4" of clearance from outer lip lots of room on the inside don't know what the section width is on that 255-55 but if you move it out an 1" you'll be close to the outer wheel well better measure to make sure as your tire is a little taller than mine maybe giving more section width, just a thought
