I recently had the A/C in my 68 (396, automatic) changed over to R134 from R12. We discoved that the "Thermal Switch" was inoperable and needs to be replaced. We jumpered it for right now so everything works fine but I cannot find anyone who carries a replacement switch. All the manuals list it as a "Thermal Switch." Does anyone know if it is called something else? Better yet, does anyone know were to get one? By the way we are using all the original A/C parts such as the compressor, etc.
Thanks,

Dean

Try Classic Auto Air, they might have it, seems like they have everything else!

GM dealer can order them. He may have to look up the part # in a book, but he can order it.

The switch is important, for years mine didn't work and my POA and evaperator would freeze up.

Classic Auto Air is where I got mine years ago. If you are looking for used I believe the Chevy full sized cars used the same thing. James Hinshaw may also be able to help, he has a bunch of used parts.

Yes Mike is correct it is it mounted on the ac/heater box. I checked Jim's (Hinshaw) catalogue but did not see itin there, but I will give him a call as he does keep some heard to find parts around. The other options, Classic Auto Air and order from GM. will follow.
Thanks once again to you all for the quick replies and help.
