If you hadn't had a bath in 35 years you'd look like that engine too.:D

No, no sarcasm.
d1_bradley Sep 25th, 08, 5:02 PM That engine and those tires have WAY more than 7k miles on them. Not to mention the worn carpet on the hump. Either the speedometer has been unhooked for a WHILE or replaced.
TCSS1970 Sep 25th, 08, 5:13 PM I hate to tell him but I think the appraiser might have him on the high side just a touch. I would be shocked if that car brought in the high teens much less the twentys. How about 12 to 15 and then someone would have to want it. But I will watch but I say it will not meet reserve.

No warranty either. Who can you trust these days? :D

i think i smell a schill.....anybody who'd drive on those tires is suicidal, i think 7k is already past what that car is worth, even is socal's bloated price range. 12.5k? appraised in the 20's, this add is all pretty much b.s. 194 miles a year, and it's in that shape. i don't see a nice car, it has some things that are in good shape, but a 307 non ss rust under the paint, and worthless tires..... i just don't see it warranting that kind of play.....
bigskycountry Sep 25th, 08, 7:24 PM This is not the first time this car has been listed. That engine compartment looks like way more than 7,000 miles, more like 107,000. No documentation to back up the mileage, and some other items already mentioned that dont add up,including the pic of the odometer reading, those numbers dont line up either.
prefectca Sep 25th, 08, 9:17 PM I trhink it should be in better shape than this car, if the mileage is correct.

I agree with Bill on this one.X2:thumbsup:
704EVER Sep 25th, 08, 9:48 PM I think he should drop the reserve and count his blessings.
oldtimebaseballfan Sep 25th, 08, 11:10 PM 7,000 miles should not make that much oil and grease on the engine.
Brake pedal looks worn.
FYI, This car is from Ohio. I've got an 11,000 mile 69 Camaro (307) car from Ohio that is actually in somewhat better shape, but if you saw the engine, you'd say it was 111,000 miles. Even if a car is off the road here in OH, the constant moisture in the air and the heat/cold weather cycles in the fall and spring will corrode any surface if left unprotected.
I've seen dozens of low mileage cars from all over the country during the last 25 years and I'd be willing to bet, this is actual mileage, for a midwest car. I live here in Ohio and am unfortunately well aware of the deterioration that this climate can do to even a low mileage car. Especially if stored in a non-insulated garage.
By the way, my Camaro still has its born-with bias ply tires that are in actually good shape.

Phil, you'd know way more than i would. what do you guys do to fight this? silica bags in the doors? i know ohio is a car mecca, a lot of nice stuff up there.
please tell me you don't drive on those original tires. seriuosly, driving on 40 y.o. tires, is really gambling your's and your families lives. i understand that some people like original, but really, be careful, i'd hate to see you or your ride busted up over old tires...
huffhuff Sep 26th, 08, 3:41 PM 107K. no 100K digit those years.
Bill,
No, I don't drive on the original tires, although I did put 1000 miles on them before putting some radials with ralleys on a few years ago. The originals are tucked away in the attic.
Unfortunately, most folks in the midwest who tried to make these cars last, did not attempt proper storage. They must be kept dry and away from the cold/warming cycles in the Spring.
As hard as my Grandfather tried to keep his 69 Caddy from rusting, it still did sitting in a moisture ladden garage.
The car subject to this thread probably had a similar history. As long as it is not a total rot-box, it is most likely a nice driver that can be detailed and enjoyed. The climate here in the midwest not only corrodes metal, it also deteriorates interiors.
