: which aluminum heads
blaster Feb 17th, 04, 10:55 AM Im building my bottom end now and still in the process of trying to figure out which aluminum heads to buy. I was going with the adelbrock rpm's but there seems to be alot of negative responses on them as far as being the bamg for the buck. What about trick flow or the AFR's? I have flat top 9.5.1 speedpro pistons with .010 decked off the block and .020 over. Looking to go with either the xe268 cam or xe274. Im not racing the car but definitly looking for something quick while weekend driving.
stealth71 Feb 17th, 04, 12:35 PM Hey I live in Orlando too. Where are you at? If you can afford the AFR's that is your best choice. I've heard nothing but the best about them. This is on a small block right?
blaster Feb 17th, 04, 1:20 PM Im in casselberry and go to the casselberry friday night cruise all the time and also Old Town. Its a 350 i am building. I dont mind spending good money on some heads but i want the best for my money. Im looking for around 400 hp with lots of torque. Which AFR's would be best?

blaster Feb 17th, 04, 8:26 PM So i should still think about the edelbrock heads then? I just want a good set of aluminum heads that will perform really well overall.
m71 Feb 17th, 04, 10:07 PM for a 350 i would consider the Edelbrock heads. 170cc runners=high velocity for lowend torque. and they are about $500 cheaper than AFR's. i wouldn't recommend Pro Topline. i have a pair of those turds right now that i bought new and can't use them due to factory f%ckups. it has taken me almost a year to get any response out of them. finally they had me send them in to them so they could look at them. they have admitted to them being faulty but as of yet, haven't compensated me in any way. that was $1200 i might as well have flushed down the toilet! graemlins/angry.gif i went and got a set of Pro 1's and am very happy with them. ;)
blaster Feb 17th, 04, 10:45 PM Im back to the Edelbrock then! Im mostly looking for low to upper midrange since i live in alot of traffic. Now i gotta figure out which cam! help!
Georgia69 Feb 18th, 04, 9:38 AM I think AFR 180's are a good choice. I have a set on order, we'll see how they work.

I agree, really nice piece & they are not "$500 dollars" more than the Edelbrock's
You can email me if you want a price on them, we can usually save you a dollar or two ;)
