: Two thumbs up for Moen
bcice Sep 24th, 08, 9:57 PM I installed one of those Moen faucets in my kitchen a couple of years ago that has a wand on a hose that pulls out and has either regular flow, or a shower type flow. It has not been working properly and you have to hold the button down to get the shower thing to work. I called Moen and told them the problem and the fella on the other end of the line said, " I am sorry you are having a problem sir. It sounds like you have a problem with the wand. Why don't I send you a new one?"!! No, when did you buy it, where did you buy it, do you have your reciept, ...nothing!! Now thats standing behind your product.
I have to replace a faucet in one of my bathrooms soon. Guess who's product I will be buying?!! Moen products are not cheap, but when they stand behind their product like that,... they get my business
jpete Sep 24th, 08, 10:17 PM I'll keep that in mind. I got pfisted on a Price-Pfister. I have two bathrooms to remodel and one to build plus a kitchen, so a quality product is high on my list.
Xplantdad Sep 24th, 08, 10:58 PM Hansgrohe also sent me replacement parts for my hand shower 3 years after I installed it. They have a lifetime warranty...and the customer service rep didn't ask for any proof of purchase...and she sent me an "exploded diagram" so that I could circle which parts I needed.
About the only question that she asked me was if the shower was our "main" one that we used. When I told her yes...they overnighted the necessary parts!:hurray:
THAT'S what I call customer service. I emailed the person in charge of customer service and let him know how happy I was with their products and their customer service.
Hansgrohe is not the cheapest out there...but sometimes...you get what you pay for!;)

Chevelle_Nut Sep 24th, 08, 11:03 PM I will also remember that. I have already had to replace the washers in my Delta faucet that I purchased less than a year ago.
bcice Sep 24th, 08, 11:12 PM We are all so quick to bash a vendor when they deserve it but when one goes out of their way to make you happy we far to often do nothing. The way that young man talked to me today gave me a real good feeling, I hung up the phone wondering what the heck happened to the argument I was expecting!
By the way, I see you had a birthday the other day Bruce. I hope it was a good'un!

Terry...you are right. That's why I went out of my way to make sure that they knew how much I appreciated their efforts!
And, you are correct...I DID have another birthday...LOL
I am getting old!:D
OrrieG Sep 24th, 08, 11:56 PM When I remodeled my bath rooms I bought top of the line solid brass American Standard fixtures. 9 years later one of the flex hoses was leaking at the coupling and when I started to take it off the faucet threaded part came with it; bad casting. I called them to buy a replacement since the piece threaded into the main body. They said the part was so longer made, they had changed the design. They said they would just ship out a new one. I expected to get just the body and had cleaned up the handles and spout. I got a call the next day from the shipping guy he wanted a photo of mine to make sure I got the right one, including the handles. I emailed the photo. A week later I got a complete new faucet, current value about $300.00. In the whole process, like Moen, they never asked when I bought it, if I had the receipt, etc. Guess who get speced at my office exclusively??? That service is making them thousands of dollars a year.

or maybe the parts Mfg's and suppliers should take notes and do the same ?

I hear ya' Jeff.
All faucets in our home have Moen, but when I re-modeled our kitchen two years ago, I went for a Price-Pfister. Big Mistake. This past Spring, I had to replace the faucet and I did so with a Moen. We went to both Home Depot and Lowe's and checked EVERY kitchen faucet in those places, and learned they were Made in China, with the exception of American Standard, which was Made in Mexico.
Respectfully,

mike69ss Sep 25th, 08, 12:20 PM I have Moen faucets throughout my house. Bad news is I had to replace parts that failed. Good news is Moen representative on the phone was very nice & new parts were sent out -- like previously stated no proof of purchases needed and no hassles.
webfoot Sep 25th, 08, 12:40 PM I know this has nothing to do with faucets, but several years ago I closed my friend's nice Cortland fly rod in his own trunk, it snapped 1 or even 2 pieces. :( I told him I'd take care of it, so I called Cortland, and told the lady what happened. The lady told me to send in the broken piece and she'd send me a new one. I asked how much, she said no charge, lifetime warranty. I said "No, you don't understand, I broke it in the trunk, and its not even mine." She said, "that's OK"!
I love to hear stuff like this.
ss1970chev454 Sep 25th, 08, 1:25 PM Good company, good products. Although stay away from the lower end stuff.
Sid Coleman Sep 25th, 08, 5:11 PM Thanks for posting this. Getting ready to replace the shower valve-will now be Moen!
Dean Sep 25th, 08, 5:21 PM Moen is a great choice, especially for tub/shower faucets.
Get one with a pressure balancing valve.
Moen made a lot of real good quality faucets and also a few not so great "builder's models"
I have a couple of very old "good ones" myself.
BUT, if you want a faucet that will never ever need replacing get a Chicago faucet, they last forever and that's why all hospitals and big institutions use them.
This is all sounding good. Please tell me the Moen is 100% made in America. How about the American Standard?
Finally Sep 25th, 08, 7:19 PM I have Moen and Price-Pfister, haven't had a problem with either yet but it's nice to know about Moen customer service. Cusinart is the same. We bought a Cusinart stainless steel can-opener, it broke in less then a year. Wife called them and they sent us a new one with pre-paid shipping to send the old one back so they could see why it failed.
Moen, Cusinart, are expensive but I'll pay it if it means quality and customer service.

neither is 100% American made. The best you could do is partially assembled in USA.
I do believe Moen is still an American company. Where as American Standard is not.
bcice Oct 6th, 08, 3:05 PM The new wand came in the mail today. Unfortunatly, it is made in Taiwan but I am very impressed with the ease of getting a warantee replacement from them.
69 Daytona Yellow 3 Speed Oct 6th, 08, 7:20 PM They replace my kitchen one 2 times. Its one of the pull out ones. They are great people. They had a problem with the early pull out ones. Never had to argue with them.....
Sleeper '69 Oct 6th, 08, 11:39 PM Maybe these companies should start making car parts.:)
Or better yet, make cars.
Seems to me Moen isn't top of the line (pricewise) Just goes to show, if you make a quality product, you don't have to make a fortune on each one, and you can still stand behind it with out tons coming back each year.
