i have a 71 mailbu and bought an original domed hood with factory holes for hood pins. I bought a repo correct set and have a simple question. should the pins face front/rear or left/right. I believe f/r as to not damage paint with the cable rubbing and easier to remove but see them both ways. How did they come from the factory?

Clips install in the hood pins from the front.
