I'm running fairly new Federal Super Steel Radials 657's-205/60R/15 all the way around. They came with the car and look good with my mags and make the car sit right BUT....I have intermittent squealing around turns only going downward. Up hill they don't squeal or screech. Can it be the tires..???? I've checked everything. Had three alignments, the front end is all new, New Sway Bar, on and on and on. So-Has anyone ever found that there tires were the cause of corner squeals..? I'll shoot em and bury them if that's the case and buy new ones..!!

If this is a stock suspension Chevelle, the front tires really lay over on a turn. All that weight when pushing around the corner is focused on the tire's outer edge.
Aftermarket control arm suspension tends to correct some of this, the tire will tracks flatter on turns.

Tire squeal is a function of tire design, rubber compound and pavement type.

Yes, some tires squeal more than others, hard rubber more than soft.
