found this on ebay: NEW
$579.00
Eagle cast crank 3.75 stroke
8 eagle 5140 I beam 5.7 rods
Probe forged pistons dish (9.0:1 with 64cc)
hastings moly rings
King lead indium rod and main bearings
does this sound like a decent deal.
Now this is going into a mild budget street 388
I'm using stock vortec heads. low compression (reason for choosing dish pistons) and reusing my 266 crane or an UD grind equivilant with no more than .440 lift (to match the stock vortecs)
this engine will be a 99.5% street motor and .5% track (maybe) I have a/c and power brakes so Im looking for a mild/smooth idling engine pulling good vacume and torque down way low in the rpm range because Im not looking to spin it 5k very often.

Michael,
Looks like a decent package for the price. I assume it's from that distributor in NV, correct? I've dealt with them before...no problems and fast delivery.
FYI, every stock Vortec head I've checked was closer to 62cc.

Michael, I am using one of their eagle kits in my chevelle and was pretty happy about price/delivery. Also, might be worth getting it balanced by them (around 100 bucks) since they offer a discounted rate given the volume they deal with.
With that being said, check everything over real good, because the first crank they sent me was not cut correctly causing piston to crank contact. I discovered this during pre assembly and they sorted it out right away.
Good luck,

If its Dynaflo..they are a good company..I bought the same kit from them..I paid a little more though :( It did blow up ...but it was my fault...watch the piston to valve clearances close

thanks guys, I have a few questions for the guy but looks like I will be ordering the kit.I'm really pumped about this engine. I cant wait to see what the difference is from the slightly warmed over 307 to the 388. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Make sure to have the assembly balanced after you trial assemble and check all clearances. Also use the recomended balancer and flexplate/flywheel.

It is common knowledge that many Eagle cranks are dimensionally off out of the box, and it would be wise to check it yourself very closely. I have two friends who have seen this. One was in a Shafiroff shortblock and the other was a crank bought by itself. I would be leery of Eagle stuff if it were me.

I think as a broader statement one should never assume that you got what you think you got when buying high performance products. ALWAYS check to make sure components are within spec. I bought a set of aluminum heads that were supposed to be 64 cc chambers and the head manufacturer provided the hydraulic cam for the motor. The heads were actually 71 cc which killed the expected 10:1 compression expected and the assembled heads had triple valve springs with 195 lbs of seat pressure. Nobody checked anything, bolted them on, wiped a cam in less than a thousand miles. Whose fault is it? Hard to say but I must take responsibility because I didn't verify specs. An expensive lesson.
Scuse me while I step down off my box. ;)
