year one vs opgi vs 396.com which is best

Most of the parts they sell are made by the same manufacturer's. They are retailers. One may offer a "GM" part or a "reproduction" where another only offers repro.
I shop them all and look for the best price on each individual part. Most of the time Ground Up or Ausley's are the cheapest.

National Parts Depot, not the cheapest but fair, you order it you get it, usually within 2 to 3 days.

Hinshaw's! :D

I've never had a problem with OPGI or NPD or Ground Up when I've used them. Year One is way too expensive.

Ground up and OPGI have gotten most of my business. There has been out of stocks and delays on occaision, but over all both have given good service.

I have bought from Ground up ( www.ss396.com ) and been happy with them. Plus, they have been a sponsor of this site since I first joined. That counts for something in my opinion.

I always compare prices and have found that I never buy from Year One. Mostly NPD because it's on the way to my daughter's house.

I like NPD, Hinsaws and Ausley's. They have had everything I need and if they don't I get real sad because I don't like dealing with the others.

I shopped around and AUSLEY'S came in best because they will have my stuff at Carlisle next week, no shipping charges and discounted well.

I won't use Ground up, after spending $1,000 worth of interior kit and other parts I was given a hard time about interior handle that was pittted that I wanted to return.

Ground Up used to be local to me. Ever since they've moved I've been using East Coast Chevelle almost exclusively. So far, great service and they are local. Dave's been great.
You really need to know what you're buying before you order anywhere you get you're parts.

You guys are lucky to have these places close by. I would be there every day if they were close and I would be broke!

Yeah Matt,
Its nice, you can see the part before you buy it.
Feels like I'm going every day lately too.
Dave, at East Coast Chevelle, is also a Long Island Chevelle club member and offers up his shop for club meetings. He even opened his shop for me on one Sunday. I'd say I am lucky, but am always broke.

Ground Up get's 98% of my business for Chevelle parts. They have alot of little things no one else has, they are 1 day away shipping, and they have best suited my needs over the last 10 years. I've built up a great relationship with them and intend on keeping it that way.

If he does't have it in stock, it is pretty much a cold day in hell.
Good-sized place, rural Western Washington south of Olympia.
Guys drive from two plus N Seattle to his shop rather than deal with the shops that are closer. That should tell ya something about inventory and service. I drive an hour to get there from Tacoma...I consider going to his shop as entertainment considering all the eye-candy there!

Anybody use Luttys?

I'm in the San Fernando Valley, so its about a hour drive to several suppliers. Still, it's hard to do during the week. The shipping cost for small orders are a killer, so I consider out of state supplier to save on the sales tax.

Wish someone would open up local! Maybe not, too much temptation.

I use The Parts Place as well, great people to work with and the door handles and mirrors are far superior to any other repro from other vendors I have tried. You can feel the difference from the moment you pick them up.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Camaros & Classics in Kansas! They are by far one of the cheapest and friendliest places I've ever dealt with. I'll probably be buying most of my parts from them

I have only bought from Ground Up once and I'm undecided about them. I bought headlight Bezels and they look like Crap. But I understand all the re-pops do. I have spent $1,000's at OPGI. For a Canadian buyer I would rank them the best for looking after cross border shipping. You pay once and once only. Theirs no delivery man at your door with his hand out for GST taxes or extra shipping costs. I talk to them on the phone when making my orders. And make sure they have the item in stock before I give my order.

I also use Jeg's and Summit. Summit in my mind is the very best.. but no restore parts..

I just spent over 6 Large with NPD, had 100% in stock and was at my shop in less than 48 hours.
Been screwed in the past by Year One, and Hinshaws wanted an exorbanant amount to ship an exhaust system. My friend has used Ground Up and as long as he talks to the owner, he gets good service.

That's my assessment as well, except I'd have used harsher language.

Year One is expensive.

OPGI is a pack of liars; one step away from fraud. If they were on fire, I'd have to stop and think about whether I'd piss on them to put 'em out.

National Parts Depot, not the cheapest but fair, you order it you get it, usually within 2 to 3 days.

I bought from them; and the service was just fine. The product ('68--'72 repop console kits) was un-usable junk--but that's because THEY got it from OPGI. See above.

SS396.com (ground up) since they're local (in CT) & give great prices and service.
As advertisers and supporters of Team Chevelle, I figured I'd buy from them--but so far I haven't needed anything.

Year one is expensive, which is why you have to take advantage of the discounts. Members of this site can get 15% off by entering the code "team15" at the checkout. You can get another 5% if spending $500 or more, and another 10% if spending $1000. So, I usually wait til I need $1000 worth of stuff when ordering from yearone and take 25% off. With the discounts, the prices are on par with the other vendors. I've never had a problem with Ausleys either. Seems like Ground Up always has everthing on backorder.

I have only incredible dealings with Summit. Return policy is great. It's an hour from me here in Ohio, so I get down there quite a bit. OPGI just screwed up my order (made online) or should I say forgot about it completely... I called them after two weeks and they sent it out right away: made things right by giving me free shipping. I'll try them again for resto. One more chance. Year One is always right on the money.
