kind of doubt that it hooks up with that manual tranny and stock suspension. i'm not good at guessing times for manual trannys, but if it were an auto with the right convertor i'd say 7.00's 1/8mi, low 11's 1/4mi? that's if it was hooking pretty good.
barryward Sep 29th, 04, 2:33 PM What altitude are you at? I'm going to guess approx 1500', and assuming you get some traction, and have no mechanical problems, 10.70's @ 125mph. Have fun. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Im not sure about the altitude, Ill be at Pacific Raceways in Seattle. First time to that track.. so I hope all goes well
Darracq Sep 29th, 04, 2:39 PM 11.50 at 118 just a guess
barryward Sep 29th, 04, 2:51 PM My wife says a best of 10.98.
66chevyIISS Sep 29th, 04, 3:17 PM um the track isn't open friday?!?! according to the website anyways:
October:
Oct 1 Fri Road Course Test N’ Tune (Cars Only) 8:00am
Oct 2/3 Sat/Sun IRDC Road Racing Club Date 8:00am
Next track day at Pacific is Oct 17th unless you know something I don't?
68SS454 Sep 29th, 04, 3:22 PM hmm...well thats what I get for listening to my friend....
Oh well, Ill head to either mission if its open or evergreen; I know evergreen's open.
GRN69CHV Sep 29th, 04, 3:25 PM Don't want to be negative, but don't be surprised if your first run barely breaks past a 12.0. You have enough motor to power a set up chassis into the 10's, but barely enough suspension to support 12's.
Either way, I am sure it is a blast on the street!
66chevyIISS Sep 29th, 04, 3:25 PM ya sorry to disappoint you :( I would advise making the trek up to mission though.
My Evergreen experience back in April. Its only 8th mile and I found out that its not even a true 1/8 mile (its about 50 feet short think from what the tech guy told me). When I went it was time only, no 60ft and no mph. They were talking about adding a 60ft back then but it wasn't worth the $25 for me so I haven't been back.
68SS454 Sep 29th, 04, 3:39 PM Hmm...
Decisions, decisions...
Grn69chv;
I know... way to much power and no suspension :(
I am dealing with that this winter though, so Im going out and simply hoping to beat my old 12.5 best with the LS6 crate motor...
66chevyIISS;
Do you run at mission mostly? Or PIR?
Im located at Mount Vernon, and am trying to determine which track is close to me..
66chevyIISS Sep 29th, 04, 4:00 PM I race at pacific raceways just because of milage difference. Your kind of smack dab in the middle. Mission is hour and a half drive (65miles) from mount vernon but you have to factor in border times though. Pacific raceways is 95 miles from Mount Vernon. Map quest says hour 37 minutes.

I think you'll run solid low 12's at least, but you gotta hook! MPH will probably be around 120. Gonna be tough with drag radials and a stick shift. Launch it no higher than 3500 in my opinion. I am real curious as to how your Tremec works. Do you plan on shifting that thing hard? Keep us posted smile.gif
*Edit*... I just read your post again. Ladder bars? You mean the old Lakewood or NMW style? You can see them in the pics by clicking on my link below. If so, they suck. I have removed them, my pics are old. If you do hook, you'll end up ripping your frame apart. trust me! Those things are harsh and basically cause suspension bind. Go with poly bushings and a set of SSM's
68SS454 Sep 29th, 04, 9:56 PM Those would be the ones redface.gif
Dont worry, im planning on removing them this winter. Im going to try and have the suspension setup by next season.
As for the Tremec, im going to shift it hard; but I wont TRY to break it :D :D
Its night and day over my old muncie... and it makes 4.10's livable.
427L88 Sep 29th, 04, 10:02 PM They'll score the axle housing, tweak the frame rail or frame brace and ride like a truck...
but with only bfg drag radials (275/60) ladders, and shot front shocks, the car would stall the engine if you launched it, by stepping off, at less than 4500 rpm!
While they "suck", they be crude devices that can handle the shock of a hard clutch launch and keep the tires frimly planted. It would be curious to get a handful of timeslips, and compare 60' to the new and improved rear suspension.
Check the bolts once in while, mine tended to work loose. I hated the way they rode. But they planted as advertised.
11's until you get it sorted out. 7's in the 1/8.( coming out of the hole easy I managed 12.20s, and your making a boatload more power).
TJC Sep 29th, 04, 10:05 PM Go straight to the slicks. Forget the DR's.

427L88 Sep 30th, 04, 10:24 AM Third that motion! Unless your rear suspension is radically different than the original one in my 67, I think you'll be surprised how aggressively you can come out of the hole with ladders and slicks. If you use the BFG's, keep 'em low at around 16 psi. COntact patches are better at 20-ish, but stick is better lower.
How's dem u-joints!?
68SS454 Sep 30th, 04, 11:29 AM U-joints are pretty good! Brand new when I did the Tremec conversion :D
Thanks for the replys guys. When I built the motor I was just hoping for 11's... sounds like a may have gone overkill graemlins/hurray.gif
Now after Friday, ill see how much Im gonna have to spend on suspension graemlins/clonk.gif
I guess this means you got the Tremec/pilot bushing issue resolved?? What ever bacame of that?
I am real curious to see how that trans does at the strip behind some power like you should have. Did you ever race that car with the Muncie?
68SS454 Sep 30th, 04, 3:04 PM I did get the bushing issue resolved. The bushing Napa gave me was too F-ing short
Im going to go reply in the trans section as soon as I get a sec. I got a standard one, and found it longer than the Napa one. I still put the longer bushing in just for some peace of mind. I also found some worn out linkage parts.
As for the Muncie, yes I did race it with the old 454 and m21. It did surprisinly well.
