What should i expect to pay for a real/very nice 70 Chevelle SS LS-5 454 4speed car, non numbers matching 454 that sounds very nice, original code 19 black car w/white stripes, pearl white benchseat interior, 12 bolt, cowl induction, etc.. frame off restored 2004, still presents very well, no paperwork but was told it is a real LS-5? Paint is excellent and the body is laser straight. Thanks in advance

I would have thought 35 - 40k for a what you described, but maybe the market realy is that bad

Depending on how extensive and nice the restoration came out, 40K or more is not out of the question. Pictures would help.

The "fact" that it was a LS5 but does not have the original engine or paperwork adds nothing to the value

without papers and original drivetrain all your paying for is a cowl tag, which could be fake.;)

Plenty of faked papers and drivetrains out there, too.

If that's your dream color, engine and trans combination and don't care about a couple of stamped numbers and it's within your budget ?
Buy it (if you don't want to build one) because 40K will be less than the cost of the restoration for sure
(if it's really that nice)

Show pics and give details as to how correctly it is restored.

you know that brings up a good question, how the heck do we know anything
is authentic anymore? with all the fake stamps, plates and papers? Can it actually be proved anymore that something is authentic:confused::confused:anyone?

On 70's you can contact Jeff Dotterer NCOAS Diamond Judge. Dated Components is his business. He is well know here as one of the resident long time Chevelle gurus.I'm lucky on mine,if you look in my showroom pics there are 3 little pics from 1973.Shows the original owner walking behind my car.He still lives up the road aways and twice a year his wife contacts me wanting to buy the car back.Still has all his old registrations and stuff and I have copies.Nice people.
