: New cam.... need new converter (long)

Recently swapped out the factory grind 300hp cam in my 327 for the old style 350hp/327 cam... (I think the specs are 222/222 .447/.447) I know it's an old school cam and I probably could've gotten more power from a Comp XE cam but my dad has a 68 Camaro with a 350hp 327 Muncie and posi rear and I got hooked.
Anyway my Chevelle has a TPI built 200-4R trans with a "stock stall" converter and a 3.73 posi 12-bolt rear. The new cam runs is great after it gets rolling, but from a stop... the converter is too tight. I can break the tires loose on every shift until fourth, but off the line it just boggs down. What would be the best stall speed for a weekend crusier (and occasional daily driver) and occasional trip to the track? Also what company would you suggest. I want to keep the lock-up feature for driveability. Thanks.

Sorry, guess some info would help. The motor is a .030 over 327 with 9.75:1 comp cast pistons, 1.94 64cc double hump heads, the 350hp 327 hyd cam (222/222 .447/.447 specs I think) Performer dual plane intake (runners opened up to match the heads), Q-jet carb, HEI, 1-5/8 headers and dual exhaust. The car has a full interior, plus sound deadener, stereo, etc. so it's no stripped down light-weight... it's a cruiser... I just want to have that acceleration I know it should have. I was thinking about a 2500 stall speed? Would this be an ok stall for mainly street duty? Thanks again for the help.

A 2400-2500 stall would be about perfect.

Ditto the 2500 range. For an economical lockup converter I have been pleased with feedback on the TCI units. If you need more info on them, shoot me an email. I have TCI stuff for less than Summit or Jeg's all the time...
