OK, so I cleaned the needle & seat, put the plugs back in, & fired it up to set the float level.. The carb is now GUSHING fuel all over the place.. It seems to be coming from the top of the carb(from the back)...

Could this be because the float level is way off?? If so, is there a starting point to set it at to adjust it from there??? It will hardly run like it is to get the floats set...

I Am begining to think this carb is posessed all of a sudden.. BTW, it's a Holley 700 DP & is pretty much brand new.. It was working great, then just decided to throw a fit for me..

Take carb off and remove the float bowls. Set the floats "dry" so that the top of the float is parallel to the bowl body or about 9/16" gap. While you are at it inspect the needles/seats for any foreign matter that could prevent them from seating. Once you have it running and the engine is warmed up I like to have the fuel level just about at the bottom of the sight hole on the primary side and about 1/16" to 1/8" below the sight hole on the secondaries. Reason for checking with the engine warmed up is as a liquid is heated it will expand and rise.

Did you put the needle and seat gasket back on. There is one on both sides of the nut. It is paper thin. Is the O ring still on the seat? It is possible that you rolled it off when you pulled it. Is the screw tight? One other thing is I have seen guys use Teflon tape and it ends up on the seat. You can hardly see it. Guess what it won't do. I would check these things.

Yeah to get the float level in the ball park try removing the bowl and flip it upside down. Turn the float adjustment screw until the float rests parallel to the ground (hold the bowl parallel to the ground too).

You want to make sure there aren't any little pieces of debris in the needle and seat assembly too. You can look by unscrewing the needle and seat assembly until it comes out of the bowl. All it takes is a tiny piece of something in there to make a mess.

PS. Make sure your fuel pressure is less than a max of 8 psi and around 6 or 7 under power. Anything over 8 psi is likely to overcome the needle and seat and leak by no matter where you set the float level.

also if you have damaged threads on the BOWL where the the float adjustment is made you will get fuel spraying out everywhere. Gasket or no gasket. With gone threads the needle will no longer tighten down with the lock nut. Old carb was waiting for me to touch it. The previous fool caused this..

Another thing to check if you had the carb apart is was a neeld aqccidentially put into a seat upside down so it will not be able to stop the fuel flow into the carb.
