I picked up a '66 Chevelle (another one) and it has an auto tranny leak. In checking, I find there is no speedometer cable and the fluid is coming out of the housing (in tranny).

My question is this car has a TH400 and my others over the years all had a 350 turbo. So I have to order a cable and need your input as to the screw on housing that connects the speedometer cable to the drive gear housing if the 350 and 400 are the same size?

The 400 looks like it has bigger threads, but maybe that's just me laying upside down with all the blood running into my brain clouding my vision LOL. Right now I don't have a 350 laying around to compare against so I though I would just ask the experts here.

Would hate to buy a cable and it won't screw onto the housing.

Thanks for any help.

I would specify a th400 when ordering. I have the same set up and that's how I ordered mine.

OK thanks, the place I usually order from said they were all the same, Powerglide, TH350, TH400 and even the manual tranny all used the same tranny housing thread size.

I would only hope that GM was that standardized back in '66 because today you can't get a part for the same car without knowing what month it was built LOL.

Cable will be here Thursday so I will know for sure soon.

Thanks for the feedback.
