when i was installing my headlamp switch , i accidently touched a screwdriver to the plug and it made a spark. now when i hit the dimmer switch the headlights turn off?? did i blow a fuse?

i was coming back from a car show tonite and when i stepped on dimmer switch to go to low beam, lights went out. kept clicking dimmer switch and got low beam back. sems my switch is bad, you may have got bad switch.

Whenever working on ANYTHING remotely related to electrical, remove your negative battery cable and save yourself a bunch of trouble. It is virtually impossible not to short something when working on electrical components.

what size fuse is that little stubby one. I want to get the right size, for the instrument lights.

The fuse is marked on the metal end what amperage it is.

I thought the headlights had a circuit breaker rather than a fuse. :confused:

If it's the little short one at the very bottom of the fuse block, if my memory serves me, I believe it's a 4amp fuse.

That little fuse is for the dash lights only.

BUT, the dash light fuse would have nothing to do with the headlights going out.
