: 70ss temp gauge readings

I am wondering if my original 70ss temp gauge is reading correctly. It has not been working for about a year, so I installed a new sending unit from Lectric Limited. Now, when the engine is up to operating temperature, the gauge only reads between the 1st and 2nd line between 100 and 210 (there are 3 lines between 100 and 210). Can anyone take a few Ohm readings for me. I have disconnected the green wire from the sending unit and put a meter across the disconnected wire and ground and read about 58 Ohms. I then took a reading across the sending unit (engine hot, wire disconnected) and got about 124 Ohms. Does this sound right? I then checked the thermostat housing with infared thermometer and got 175 and then checked the base of the sending unit and got 210, so I know the engine is getting up to the proper temp. Can anyone tell me what kind of readings they get when doing whats listed above? Thanks!

Joe, Ohm reading on mine(sender) was 570 (1000 ohm scale) new out of the box.Ambient temp was approx.70 at the time.
See what reading you gat with engine cold.

Mine at ambient temperature reads about 860 ohms. Does anyone have any readings from a hot temp sender? I just wondering whether I should send this back or not. Thanks for any help.
