Hi guys, again I'm needing some helpful information on where to find something. In the picture below, on the Ramjet intake, this person nicely filled the engraving in with a product (Black and Red) I have the same set up and was thinking about doing this but didn't know if a product existed. When I saw this picture it not only told me there was a product out there but reenforced my idea. I'm thinking it's similar to a liquid rubber product that hardens once exposed to air. Kind of like what you would dip your plier handles in. Anyone know of such a product specifically designed for filling engraving letters? Thanks Bob :beers:

You might try RTV.If your really carefull you could do one letter at a time with the rest taped off.It comes in many different colors and dries in the air.

I have seen guys use 1 shot pin stripe enamel, paint marking sticks, and the stuff you are talking about is plastisol vinyl dip. We use the stuff at work every day and it does not get really hard.

Bob,
You are over complicating the issue.
The owner of that 72 El Camino is a close friend of mine. The lettering was filled in with a Testors Gloss Enamel PAINT PEN. You can get them at most any hobby store.
He filled in the lettering, waited about 3 or 4 minutes, then with an old t-shirt wrapped on his finger with a touch of Laquer thinner wiped across the top of the plate to clean up the edges.
He has had the motor in his car for over 2 years now, and the lettering looks as good as it did on day one.
I'm just trying to figure out where the picture of his car was taken, and when. He doesn't have a computer, I may have taken the pic, but don't remember it.

Thanks for that direct info. Much appreciated. How close is this friend of yours? Could you possibly get me more pictures of that engine/compartment. Looks clean and I want to get some ideas for mine.
Another member here took the picture at a car show. I think In Washington State. It was the only one he had though. Thanks. Bob :beers:

Bob,
He is like a second father to me. Yes I have some pictures, it will take a while to get them posted. I will see what detailed pics I have and get them posted later today.
The motor and car are spotless, you could serve Thanksgiving dinner on that engine bay.
I will say, a lot of the polished pieces he fabbed up himself. He is a Millright and a perfectionist. He does nothing twice. If he wants a certain look he will strive for it and not settle for close.

Bob I searched my entire computer for better pics than the one you posted, no luck.
I may have burned a disc for his wife to get printed, then deleted them from my computer.
If my schedule works out, I may see him at a cruise in on friday night. I'll take more pics then.
Look for a PM sometime saturday afternoon.
