: 60' times and ..........
chevywidow Sep 11th, 04, 9:18 AM MPH's. I realize the plethora of variables involved, but I feel that 60' times should have a direct impact on MPH. My best short time was 1.677 and the ET@11.988/ MPH@112.48. I feel something is amiss here. I would like some input of other peoples runs and the relationship of their 60'to MPH. Thanks alot, Tony A. graemlins/beers.gif
Bob West Sep 11th, 04, 9:26 AM MPH is pretty much a constant, indicates HP,,,60ft DOES have a direct relation to e.t. I run all year long and mph hardly ever varies over 1-2 mph...60fts and e.t.'s are the variables.
Motor Martyr Sep 11th, 04, 10:49 AM depends on the converter, 10" converters have more impact on MPH when the car turns the tire.
Depends on how the car is setup as well, rich or lean.
What is your 1/8 mile MPH
chevywidow Sep 11th, 04, 11:07 AM Brian, the 1/8th is 7.588@91.64. Using a 10" footbraking it. I always felt the fuel system wasn't up to the task.
BLK64SS Sep 11th, 04, 12:46 PM 60' wont have an affect on MPH .. You can take car that leaves like a rocket .. yet goes flat the last half and have a killer 60', good ET and low MPH .. Or you can have a car ( mine 14 yrs ago ) that would get 2.3xx 60' run 12.70's @ 110
A friends S/C car would get 2.xxx 60' yet he ran 8.90's @ 180
As it was said 60' will affect ET, MPH is an indication of HP.
Motor Martyr Sep 11th, 04, 1:37 PM Your picking up 21 mph on the back half, what Jetting is in the carb
What carb?
What timing? How much fuel pressure crossing the stripe?
chevywidow Sep 11th, 04, 7:05 PM Brian, the carb is a 750 Mighty Demon with 75 front and 83 in the rear.Timing was always an issue with that dist. 29 deg. total was the best I could get out of it. No fuel pressure gauge. Is 21 MPH in the back half decent? Thanks, Tony.
Bob West Sep 12th, 04, 3:16 AM 29 deg. total was the best I could get out of it That is easily cured with more initial timing.
Twilightoptics Sep 12th, 04, 3:54 AM I've heard that 21mph in the back have is pretty good for street/strip cares especially.
I pick up 22mph going 8.7@84 to 13.3 @ 106mph with 2.1-2.2 60 fts. I was wondering also if my MPH would go up with the new posi some slicks and about a 1.66 60ft?!
I mean, if you get moving faster, for better ET, why would you MPH not go up if you are getting down the track faster?
chevywidow Sep 12th, 04, 8:15 AM If you're spinning your tires now, and you get it to hook, I believe you will pick up MPH. For sure MPH is the best indication of H.P, but if your not hooking, how could that be determined? Besides, who doesn't like a "hooker"?

I mean, if you get moving faster, for better ET, why would you MPH not go up if you are getting down the track faster? Your not spinning at the long end .. and your not making anymore HP.
Again .. w/ my car .. after making gear, tire and converter changes seperatly it went from 12.70's @ 110 to 11.90's @ 112 .. 2 MPH .. I dont think thats what your looking for though ..
Friends S/C car .. 8.90's @ 180 w/ 2.xxx 60' on throttle stop .. 7.20's @ 180 off the stop
chevywidow Sep 12th, 04, 8:52 AM Actually I was referring to Twilightoplics scenario, not my own. Thanks for clarifying though.
i don't know what you're really worried about here. your car seems like everything is in sinc to me. 21mph on the 2nd half doesn't seem bad at all for a street car.
