When I installed the digital 6 the car started fine and ran fine and then after a few minutes the ignition started cutting out like I was turning the ignition on and off. The tach would drop to near zero during the cut out and then return to normal. It cut out about every 2 to 3 seconds. We turned the car off and checked all connections etc. and found no problems. The LED light comes on solid until the car starts and then blinks once a second. When I rev’d the car up to say 4000 RPM the light seemed to stay on but would blink when I let it down to 3000 RPM. or below .We tried this sequence once or twice and then noticed if we let the car idle @ approx. 1350 RPM while cutting out the cutting out would happen @ a tighter frequency say 1 second or so. We ran the car thru this drill 4 or 5 times. Each time it would start fine and run fine for a couple of minutes and then start cutting out.
After reading as much info as possible on the MSD web site we have tried the following:
I’m running the shielded cable for pickup signal and it is grounded property.
We broke it out of it’s loom and ran it as far from all other wires as possible.
My MSD billet distributor PN 85501 shows 800 OHMS of resistance measured btwn the leads coming from the dist. which is w/i tolerance per the MSD web site.
I have 8 gauge wire running from the battery to the point of connection for the box. The ground for the box is also very clean and good. I measure 13+ volts everywhere on the primary circuit. I read 13.5 volts @ point of connection for the box while it was cutting out.
I’m utilizing the start retard and not the pink wire 2nd retard feature and have it coiled and sealed.
I have cut and sealed the green loop wire and the white wire is also sealed and coiled and not used.
We tried setting the cylinder selection to both # 2 and # 6 with no effect.
The car is timed @ 36 degrees and the timing stays steady even during the cut outs.
My alternator is putting out about 75 amps.
Having tried all of this I reinstalled my 6AL box and the car runs fine and won’t exhibit the cutting out described earlier. This being done I returned the box to MSD and they checked it out and said they could find no problem  .
Any suggestions???
