Please help me id this 10 bolt... The casting number on the center section is 3833443N There is also a number on the axle tube (driver side) DB1127. I cannot locate any numbers on the pass side tube. I'm hoping this is a 8.5 version!! The bolts that hold the ring gear on take a 9/16 socket..

Please help me id this 10 bolt... The casting number on the center section is 3833443N There is also a number on the axle tube (driver side) DB1127. I cannot locate any numbers on the pass side tube. I'm hoping this is a 8.5 version!! The bolts that hold the ring gear on take a 9/16 socket..


I know the 8.2 uses u-bolts to hold the u-joint and the 8.5 I have uses a metal strap. Also the 8.5 has the two tangs at the bottom corners of the housing where as the 8.2 doesn't. Hope this helps.

Mine has 2 little tangs, however it has a 8.2 looking cover and a date code of B-8-3. Anyone know if there is a difference in bolts that hold the ring gear to the carrier?


I just found another number on the ring gear....... GM3790629
